I guess I am spoiled by Hersheyparks carousel (which they run at a fast speed) and Knoebels (where you can grab the ring). KD's carousel was just average at best. kind of sad to see the shape some of the horses are in with scratched and chipped paint.
A fine carousel, not terribly well-preserved but not dire either. The band organ could be useful if restored, though, as the ride would benefit from it.
The carousel was one of the few "credits" I didnt have at Kings Dominion until this past weekend, so I decided to take it for a spin. Im sure my parents probably dragged me on it when I was a young pup, and Kings Dominion was surely a much different place back then. As far as I know, this old ride has remained consistent throughout all the changes of ownership, scenery, and rides throughout the years at the Virginia park. I suppose this is well preserved, and I suppose that I will have to explain myself each time I review a carousel saying how I dont see any thrilling reason to feel sorry for them! They are slow, repetitive, and juvenile, and this one was no exception. Fortunately though, this ride has passed the test of time and has been enjoyed by many generations of Kings Dominion patrons. It had a decent cycle, but no music by the way.
A nice carousel. The paintings could be a little more colorful and interesting. Needs to get organ working again. A fun family ride.
Yep, its a carousel. It isnt bigger or better than any out there. My kids loved it, but they love all carousels (a.k.a merry-go-rounds). It helps old people like me relax a little though, so it does its job well.
I thought Kings Dominions carousel was pretty good. Though not the best, at least it looked nice. The lights and figurines were all pretty cool, and the building it was in looked classical as well. As I said in the Carowinds review, every park needs a Carousel. With an ok duration and a pretty good body, the PKD Carousel gets a 7

This was great, except for the operating procedures! It took ten minutes for them to start the thing after they started letting people on (and this was not because more and more people were rushing to it).
This is a good carosel, everything seemed to work if I remember right, I rode it 8 years ago.
I fell off of one of the horses, so I have bad memories of this ride, of course im just clumsy so it was my fault. But still.
Um.... its a Carosuel, its themed nice, but its just average. Kids would like it.
