Oddly interesting design for such a large wooden coaste, but consistantly performs as an intense and amusing ride that continues to rise in my personal top 10. Son of Beast displays very powerful mega double tilted helices, a layout that doesnt let up, and one of the best and only loops to truly conquer all of your senses towards the various forces. Theres also a creative drop right out of the station and an outstandingly fast hop into the final brakes ending. Each year since the infamous opening of the coaster, Paramounts Kings Island has made an obligation to make the coaster as reridable as possible and several more moments of airtime have been acquired from their 2002 season rework. Dont forget- Put your hands up!

Great woodie, somewhat rough, but it wasnt anything too bad, just avoid being stapled at all costs. I learned how much that can hurt on this ride the hard way.

This is a very fun ride, but I do agree that it is pretty rough. The helixes feel like much more than they are supposed to.

WHAT A HORRIBLE RIDE! Its father (The Beast) rules the park but its son aught to be disowned! This is the roughest thing you have ever ridden in your life, and I dont know if theyve fixed this, but the chain lift was like someone taking a blowhorn, putting it next to your ear, and screaming in it. I couldnt even hear my riding partner and hes right next to me. Plus, the loop wasnt all that. Standard is the only thing I can say for it. This was a total disapointment! Three hours + for absoulutly nothing. DONT RIDE THIS DISSAPOINTMENT! ITS NOT WORTH YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY OR TIME!

This ride did have a real bumby ride and caused me some enduring pain, but i hear its been fixed so I have to go back and give it a better chance. But I would have liked it a lot more without the harmfull ride. The loop was pretty cool too. Because well its wood, and well, Its unique

Just to let you know, I only rode this coaster last year. I did not find this coaster to be that great at all. It wasnt Hercules, but it was almost as rough. The drop and the loop were cool, but the rest of the ride was just painful helixes. The beginning of the ride was OK, but why the heck would you put the on-ride-photo right there. Overall, this ride was just a dissapointment.

This review is submitted after riding SOB 4 times over two days. The first two times I rode SOB were simply incredible. The ride was certainly bumpy, but definitely not too rough nor too smooth. In fact, I dont even know how someone could claim this ride was too smoth. Perhaps they rode in the middle seat of the middle car? The first drop was the best on any wood I have ridden. I had great airtime. The speed was incredible, so instense at times through the helixes at the gs pulled my arms "down". That is, I didnt have enough strenth to hold them up. The second ride for the night was in the very front, and I was lucky to ride the final ride of the evening. This one ride was better than any ride of the Beat at night. It was one of those rare rides where everything went well. The speed? Ferocious. The track is so dark at times I couldnt see it. I will remember this ride for a long time.
The second day I rode SOB twice. Both times were much bumpier than the first day. In fact, the second ride of this day I had a headache when I finished. If I hadnt experienced this inconsistency, I would definitely give this ride a ten. Much of the roughness, in my opinion, is due to the extreme size and speed of this coaster. Wood is not steel, and the faster and higher you go, the bumpier the ride will be. PKI is doing their best to smoothen the ride as much as possible. In fact, the ride was closed both days in the morning until about 1pm to work on the track. I think this is a good sign, and the ride will only get better.
