Cheesy and kitschy. Most of the old and dated, but well kept, animatronics worked fine for me. A nice long travel through prehistoric times showing that cavemen (and women) really did rock our. Fantastic old school dark ride and a must for dark ride aficionados

Today was my first visit to the Boardwalk and one of my must sees being a dark ride fanatic was the Cave Train. Unlike other reviewers i can only slight this ride on minor points. There are too many things visible such as roll up doors for maintenance and such that could have been hidden better from view. The only other complaint is that much like the other dark rides here several of the gags are in disrepair or fail to operate altogether.
As far as the theming, this ride was obviously made to cash in on the popularity of the Flintstones at the time is was originally built( 1961). It was cut e and fun and the kids on the train seemed to love it.

a long, decent corny ride, I remember it before it got redone as being alot better (not to mention scarrier) then the updated new and improved version. Still worth a look.

I wasnt exactly sure what to expect from this ride, and after riding Im still not sure exactly what it was. This is a rather long train ride that must use up a lot of space underneath the boardwalk, though youd never know it by looking at the modest entrance to the ride. Once in, from what I recall, you begin in prehistoric cavemen times, then the cavepeople and some dinosaurs make their way to the boardwalk and have one giant party. Somewhere along the line we end up in the jungle and in the arctic. A lot of this ride makes use of black lights, and the characters all look like a cross between a Rugrat and a monkey. I pondered this ride for quite some time, trying to figure out why it was here, what it was about, and what drugs the people who designed it must have been on, before I finally let it go. Definitely not great, but worth it to take a break from all the spin-and-pukes on the boardwalk, as well as for the curiosity value.

this is the best darkride in the park.

you start by boarding a train and going deep into a cave. You seemingly travel back in time when you go through a spinning time and transported to Cave Rock City. There you journey through the countryside the boardwalk and the beach and get in on the dancefloor. But danger soon strikes as you depart from the city and you soon find yourself in the midst of some ferocius beasts like grizzly bears and veloca raptors. But all turns out for the best and you return to 2004 safely!

I love cheesy old dark rides, but I belive its been updated since my last visit, and may not be as quirky as it once was.

What a weird old ride. Worth checking out once.. but its really dated. It probably looked out of date when it was built back in the 60s.

themed well. Now I know what my coffee feels like surrounded in starafome.

Worth a look, it is longer than you might expect. Theming is strange and fun. Check it out.

Just a crappy dark ride. Better than other dark rides Ive been on but still not nearly as good as Disneys dark rides.
