The only other stand up I had been on before was Iron Wolf. The first part with the drop loop and incline loop were great, but the second half got rough.
good ride...but kinda painful
I first time I rode this I was in the front row at night and had a great ride. The second time I was somewhere in the middle during the day, and got banged up. I would deffintly ride this again but only in the front row. I love this ride because of its layout, there are so many twists and turns and loops and drops, you have no clue where the track is gonna take you next. The only bad thing about this ride is the wait time, it seems to take forever, but besides that its a lot of fun.
Great great ride. Some people say its painful but I didnt find it the least bit. The twisted layout is awesome you never know where your going next after the incline loop.
Long standup. Love the lagoon setting. A little rough on the leg muscles though.
The Mantis is a great stand-up. With good positive gs and lats too. I wish that the first brake on the drop would have been left out so more forces could be at work but I guess it does provide for a more well rounded, less intense ride. The stand-up is a little more awkward to be in but at the same time can provide more thrills as well. And you really need to stand up because I know some people like to sit down on the bicycle seat that is inbetween your legs but that just doesnt count. The rides first loop is a breathtaker over 100 ft. It Used to be the tallest of any coaster but has been dethroned for awhile now to Riddlers Revenge. The loop is massive and provides a good amount of weightlessness at its peak. The rest of the ride provides a nice diving loop and inverted loop. It is a little rougher than all the other coasters at Cedar Point but you always need that extra intensity to really make you remember it in my opinion. I also enjoyed the theming around the ride with the water ponds by it providing a nice aquatic sense. The Mantis is a great ride and should stay in my top 10 for a great amount of time. Some people may downgrade the ride because of its intensity but im all for it and it is much needed in my opinion. Another great edition to Cedar Points lineup.
Ratings based on RCT Rating System:
Excitement: 6
Intensity: 10
Nausea: 9
Ive now been on most of the stand-ups in North America and only Riddlers Revenge and Georgia Scorcher are better. Equal with Chang in my opinion. Lots of Gs. If you prefer a smooth ride stay in the front, especially with a half empty train.
You best start praying.
This is a great coaster... my first and only stand-up to be exact. The positive Gs hurt me though, and when I got off, it was sort of hard to walk. The layout is great, and its great for taking pics of it.
Fun stand-up coaster thats very smooth. I never thought that stand-ups could be this fun. Its very comfortable if you adjust the seat between your groin and knees and dont have the restraints to close to your shoulders.
