The mantis is just a great looking coaster. I really dig the color scheme. this coster and the former King Corba are the only stand ups ive been on & I really enjoyed them both. It has a pretty tall first drop and i like the speed and the smooth transititions into the inversions. i have never felt beat up by this coaster or any other maybe cause im about 62 or maybe im just immune because i like the rough and tumble aspects of roller coasters. Folks, in my opinion a coaster has to be agressive & tough. thats why woodies are my favorite coaster. but an aging steel coaster does come pretty close.
I remember Mantis for being one of the few coasters I was truly scared to go on. Its very loud and impressive looking, and the idea of standing is kind of feaky. The ride itself, at least in my opinion, isnt as bad as some people say. The turn before the drop adds a great thrill, and I thought the dive loop was really cool. In the times Ive ridden I dont remember any significant roughness, or any "leg pain."
Im only giving it an 8 though because it could use more inversions, and I just dont like the stand up concept much. The bicycle seat is uncomfortable and I really dont feel like standing on a ride after standing in line.
Mantis was a great stand-up coaster and one of my favorites. The first drop was amazing as I had some good air-time in the back. Following that was a massive vertical loop that provided some hang-time and some strong forces at the bottom. Also, the dive loop and inclined loop were taken at very high speeds and were quite intense. The finale however was very dull and even a bit rough in parts.
This is a fun ride, but the crap they do to keep you in there is uncomfortable.
Ive ridden the Mantis many times. I thought this was a great coaster with some pretty cool inversions like the dive loop and the inclined loop, i loved the second half after the brake run, the corkscrew was really fun i thought and i love the changes in direction. Overall i would give this ride a 7 but with the nice layout and inversions i will give it a 9.
Good fun ride but i thought B&M coasters were supposed to be smooth.
MANTIS!!!! I LOVED it! Great speed, even greater inversions, I plan on going back to CP this year and will ride this again!
I certainly hate to give this ride a 2, but I will explain. I rode this twice and I hated it both times. Both times as soon as we started going down the hill, my leg started hurting. Then, later through the ride I could tell the circulation in my leg was getting cut off. It hurt so bad I couldnt wait to get off. This happened both times and I experienced a lot of pain. I would have given this a 1 but due to my wonderful experiences on other stand up coasters I decided to be nice and give it a 2.
This ride is really a 7.5 for me. I rode it right after the Millennium Force so it seemed REALLY dull. It was my first stand up and the first half of the ride was great. The second half was boring and rough. Overall pretty good though.
Ive only been on a few stand ups, but so far this is my favorite. The others that I have ridden were average to below average coasters. However, this one is actually quite fun and not too rough. I rode it a few times and all rides were fun.
