When I went to CP on a field trip for school, we literally arrived about 20 minutes after Millennium Force had broken down for about a week. Needless to say, I was incredibly disappointed, and I wasnt really expecting much from this primitive, rough-looking hyper, especially after riding glass-smooth Nitro at SFGadv. However, I was really surprised! This rides a heckuva lot more intense than it looks. The drops are all loads of fun, and you can really feel yourself gaining speed, and the airtime is positively INSANE! (I unknowingly sat in the "ejector seat" so Im not sure if thats why I felt SO much airtime, but judging by these reviews, all seats seem to have great airtime). I wasnt really expecting much from the tunnels- like Timberman said, theyre mostly a "cheap diversion" on most coasters, but theyre actually one of the best features of Magnum! Even though they dont look very long, its seriously pitch-dark inside all of them, and Im pretty sure theres fog or something in the last one. I did have to dock a point because it can be excessively rough in some parts, but this is still a must-ride at Cedar Point. Even if it doesnt look like much, like CoastrGlxy said, its one of those coasters you have to "ride to appreciate".

If Blue Streak gives you airtime, then here's its steel, taller counterpart. At 200 ft., it's another one of my favorites and I would ride it again and again. UPDATE (7/18/2009): I rode Magnum again and it still holds up well. It's also celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year!

#2 next to Millienium Force. This thing is an airtime monster. The 1st drop is great and the 2nd gives u the feeling you are about to be launched into Lake Erie. The turnaround is great and intense. The bunny hills and tunnels make for a great ride. My favorite is near the end, the bunny hop in the tunnel leads to great airtime, all unexpected. Overall, one of the most underrated coasters ever.

This ride is still one of my favorites, mostly because I am an airtime freak. Ive never had to wait long for the ride at all. Yeah, it is starting to show its age but it still packs a punch. Maybe they could put the elevator chain on it like they did with Millenium Force.

The Magnum is a great coaster, my 2nd favorite, but theres 2 problems with the Magnum. The hill takes for ever to climb, and the bunny-hills at the end hurt my thighs because they are so forceful. But, still a great ride, smooth, heavy G-forces on the pretzel, first drop is awesome, and so is the second one. Its kept up very well as well for its age. I rode it in the back all the time, which might be the reason my thighs hurt. Still, 2nd best ride at Cedar Point.

This is such an overrated ride. This ride is rough, and how it still gets in the top ten of the golden tickets is beyond me. There are pops of airtime and the first drop is fun, but the bunny hops at the end are painful since they are so forceful. The ride left me with sore thighs (the only ride to do so) and it just wasnt a thrill at all for me.

EDIT: I sat in the ejector seat and this is what im basing my review off of. This ride is very innovative with being so high at the time which is why I believe a 7 is generous.

Wow, what an excellent coaster! Rode in the suggested "airtime" spot in the train, and boy did it deliver! Nice to recieve airtime on this beast, exactly where Millenium Force lacks deliverance. Also, what a blast to have rain hitting you in the face, and hard! Tunnels add a nice touch, as does the lift that never seems to end. The historical value must also be appreciated, and one must be reminded that no, it is not "Canada" that is visable, rather a Canadian island on Lake Erie I do believe. :;

After being encouraged to make Magnum my 100th coaster, I went against the advice and just rushed to Millenium Force instead. I wish I wouldve listened to the advice because on my trip to Cedar Point, Magnum stole the show. The hype for the prototype hyper coaster was huge. Id look at on-ride footage and pictures and was always very unimpressed. It just didnt look like much to me. But this is a great example of a coaster you just have to ride to appreciate. The long, slow lift hill offered a great view of Lake Erie. The first drop is pretty strong considering its not that tall by todays standards. Theres a slight turn at the crest of the next hill. After the second drop into the tunnel the train just becomes possesed and gave a pretty intense ride. The pretzel turn around is fun and the burst of speed when you leave it is pretty surprising. The trip back to the station is stuffed with ejector air. You almost feel like youre out of your seat as much as youre in it even though thats not the case. While the air time is fun it does approach roughness. In contrast the air on S:ROS at SFNE is forceful, but not as rough. Of course, Magnum is much, much older, but the rough ejector air was still a factor. The station, with its outdated futuristic look offered a dash of theming and it seemed pretty lively. I was blessed with two back to back walk-ons of this ride thanks to large storm system sitting over the area. I can finally see why the Magnum has the reputation it does. Its an older ride, but it makes up for its modest stats with more personality than a lot of the newer thrill rides out there. I never thought Id say this, but Thank You Arrow! Final Rating - 9.5 (Excellent-Approaching Superior)
