No idea how this ride got its rep. I found it rough and the layout uninspired. There was nice airtime and a great view though.
The Godfather of the hypercoasters! Magnum XL-200 started it all. This coaster was way ahead of its time in 1989. 10 years after its creation, coasters of similar design, speed, and height were being built. Example, Superman at Six Slags America. Magnum brought back the fear of speed and the fear of height, reinvigorating the coaster world. This was the most important thing to happen to coasterdom since John A. Miller invented the upstop wheel and put it to excellent (much needed) use on the Jack Rabbit at Kennywood. Magnum XL-200 is famous worldwide for good reason. Its simply one of the best coasters ever built.
Another great hypercoaster. This is a wonder that should not be missed...ever...when you visit Cedar Point. Every time I venture upon Magnum (which is probably approaching 10 times between the 2 trips Ive made to the park), it wows and scares me with is height, thrills me with its speed and packs the best ending of any coaster on Earth, in my opinion. I had the opportunity this year (July, 04) to ride in the imfamous airtime seat many times and every ride, I bashed my legs into the lap bar on the last bunny hills until the point where it almost hurt. Although it was uncomfortable, it makes this coaster one of a kind. Obviously, this is an airtime machine and the tunnels add a great effect. The only thing bad thing about Magnum is the pretzel turn which is kind of bumpy. Otherwise, Magnum is suprisingly smooth for a 15 year old coaster. Magnum is great ride and wonder and is, and will always be, one of my favorite coasters!
The Magnum is amusing at best. The first drop is OK the second rocks. The turn-around is fun but the bunny "hops" gave me a major case of the sore legs from slamming the lap bar.
Perhaps the worlds greatest roller coaster, the Magnum XL-200 provides a wonderful first drop, intresting layout, and loads of airtime.
I cant complain, this thing started it all. CP had a hyper 12 years ago, and most parks are now just starting to have them!
Everything on this ride is perfect, the bunny hills, tunnels and pretzel elements are placed perfectly. This is a well crafted roller coaster, one of the best.
This is the ride that started it all! Massive height and airtime, a cool turnaround, and bunny hops that leave you knees red. Duffman says, "Oh yeah!"
I love this great classic tubular steel coaster. I noticed it seemed to run faster in the cooler weather. It screamed, and the bunny hills make you catch incredible air time. One of my all time favorites.
I have loved this ride since I was about 10 years old. This ride is airtime filled. And while I do like MF and SROS a little bit better, this ride is still awesome. The best part about this coaster is that year after year, it seems more like a wooden coaster. Thats right it is getting more rough. Thats not bad at all. I wonder why it is getting more rough. My theory, coasters get more rough when they are sinking.
Just kidding. MAGNUM RULES!, BUT SO DO WOOD COASTERS!!!
This ride felt like a woodie!! It was rough, but a fun Hyper coaster. It does loose some speed but ita to be expected, after all it was the first Hypercoaster. The Airtime on this ride is great. In my opinion better than MF. There is something about this ride I like ALOT so it gets a 10.
