Well, as with Dragster, when I first came off Magnum I thought it was an absolutly amazing ride. After a couple years have passed...my opinion has changed, although not as much as it did for Dragster.
When I first got off Magnum, the combination of the view, the drop, the airtime...it just all got me. I have experience some other coasters, although not ones with "extreme" airtime, and airtime just doesnt thrill me any more. Magnum has lost its touch over the last couple of years, and I dont think so highly of it anymore. Yet, all of that only cost it a point. Still think it was a great ride, just not quite deserving of a ten.
Good ride, the airtime was pretty swell, but the ride was rough, I only rode it once in the front car, but didnt really care to ride it again, the pretzel helix sucks alot, the entrance to it is painful with thos funky trims.
Real letdown. Maybe it was just a bug in the works, but the day I rode Magnum it was way too jerky (headache level), braked too often, and terrible seat design. It really reminded me of a larger PKI Vortex - better, but not by much. The layout, however was great.
Im in love with Magnum. The lift hill, unlike Millennium Force, seems to take the longest time to get to the to the top, which kind of adds to the ride experience. My favorite parts of the ride are the pretzel turnaround and the major airtime-inducing bunny hops. My only advice is dont sit in the third row, because the airtime becomes painful when the restraints bang against your legs. (I had no problems with any other row)Besides that, its a great classic.
Classic fun. The wait usually isnt long and there have huge mist fans to cool you off. The waiting line for the most part it shaded by trees. The lift hill is excurciatingly long, the tunnels add a great affect and almost look like you wont fit. This is a must ride and tops my list.
There arent many rides at Cedar Point that I dont like, but there is always that one that creates that sensation of getting beat by a baseball bat. Magnum just happened to be that one, and I just happened to dislike it. I didnt have any time to enjoy what I understand to be a decent ride because I was busy trying to fight off the extreme pains I was experiencing. I have never been hurt by a coaster like this before, which leads me to the decision that I would not wait longer than 5 minutes for this ride. Usually those painful coasters are fun, but in this case, I would have to disagree.
UPDATE: After going to the park a second time and forgetting just how much this ride hurt, I began to realize that it would be a sure 10 if you could make it through the ride without the pain. This would be one of my all time favorite rides if I could just do without the discomfort and be able to enjoy the brilliant design of the ride.
Painful as any ride I have ever been on. The leg room is not large enough for someone of my size (63"
, and over every hill my knees would slam into the seat in front of me. But that doesnt take away the fact that this coaster is great. The drop is very fast, the airtime is plentiful, and although its a little rough, its still a blast to ride. This is a quality coaster, but it has aged a bit.
CONDORMAN is back!!! i guess alot of my fans missed me so i am making my return debut to regulate these ride ratings. Ok, Magnum, a great ride. Reminded me of Raging Bull, just a little rougher and tougher...which is always good. Might hurt shorter people, bu tall riders will enjoy it the most. Some good bunny hills, i would definatly ride it again
Decent first drop and great air on the bunny hills, but the boring turnaround keeps this ride from being a 10.
This ride has a good first drop and lots of great ejection-like airtime. As always, youll get a smoother ride in the front.
