Nothing spectacular. I mean it looks good, but its run for a really short time and the horses movement was kind of jerky.
a noce carousel but it needs a little restoritive work
I didnt think I would say this but, this is the most depressing ride I have ever seen. This ride is in terrible condition. A carousel is supposed to be the centerpiece of a park. This is just a forgotten hunk of junk. There is no operating band organ and it has been replaced by terrible digital mock band organ music sounding like something comming out of a Cheap Casio keyboard. The fake brick work around this ride is also a dissapointment. Its not as if AOL/Time Warner could not afford real bricks. In fact this whole park is one giant dissapointment. Millitary recruiters are just killing the mood here. If SFNE burned to the ground I would not miss it.
Home of one of my favorite carousels as a childhood when the park was run by Riverside, Six Flags New England has tarnished what used to be one of the best carousels around. Located near the front of the park, their classic Illinois Carousel is located right near the main entrance. This classic wooden carousel is a beauty. All of the wooden horses have amazing detail. At night it looks even better with the bright lights illuminating the wonderous carousel. Generally a walk-on, the Carousel has a very high capacity. Unfortunately, you are restrained by straps on this one. Now I mentioned that the ride looks nice. That is while you are off the ride. While on the ride you can see what condition the ride is now in. Six Flags doenst maintain it properly. Most of the horses are in excellent condition, but some arent and even have some pieces chipping off. Also, the ride no longer has a band organ. In the center of the ride there is a void where it used to be. Now there is just a cheesy recording of a band organ. Also, the ride length is insanely short. It is about a minute and a half long. Though the ride doesnt begin with a bell, the ride ends with one. Overall, Six Flags New Englands Carousel is beautiful, but it has a short cycle and isnt properly maintained. Still anyone who enjoys carousels, especially classic ones, cant miss this one.
This would be a very beautiful classic Illions carousel, except that they dont take very good care of it. Its nice to see theyve repaired the lead horse, but many of the horses have missing ears and are barren of paint right down to the wood, and unfortunately several of the figures have been replaced by fiberglass replicas. It also doesnt have a band organ, which is a requirement for a true classic.
Pretty good carousel, though not the best example of a true classic. Smooth ride, and looks pretty nice in the park.
I give it a high rating not because its attractive looking, but becausue it has a very oldie feel to it (its from the 1900s, duh!) and yet it is a smooth ride. Do not tear this down!
It is okay. Nothing special and i agree it isnt maintaned that well. It is very old. A classic.
This ride looks great at the entrance of the park. Its a lot of fun and great eye candy when you enter through the gates.
a good carousel but definately could be better. it just needs a face lift
