Its a kids ride but not a very good one at that. It will please the little ones but not many others.

Now I love flying scooters, don’t get me wrong. I love the sensation of flying they provide and the unique thrill they provide if snappable. Unfortunately, Lake Compounce’s are unsnappable, but that’s an understatement since Canobie’s are unsnappable and pretty good. These ones aren’t only unsnappable, but they also lack any movement at all. Just an embarrassment for flying scooters.

The only saving grace for this ride is it’s appearance, which I do commend the park on. The American flag theme on the cars is excellent and it’s right up there with Canobie’s for my favorite in terms of looks. Also, the ride’s backdrop of the sky is pretty cool as well. Still, no matter how good a ride may look; it’s no alibi for a horrid ride. Another plus was that I only encountered a one cycle wait, a real shock considering the attraction's slow loading and abysmal capacity.

As I stated earlier, these flyers are capable of no movement at all and that’s not an exaggeration! The park runs the ride at such a slow speed that I consider it more of a glorified kiddie ride than a beloved ole classic. It’s just a shame of how slowly these are run since I didn’t even feel the wind in my face! Amazingly the cycle could be just as bad. The actual ride lasts about a minute or so, but it then takes two minutes to actually bring the ride to a complete stop. Absolutely unacceptable!

One word describes this ride, boring. Despite being a classic, and a very nice looking one too, Lake Compounce just runs these far too slowly for any real movement and fun to occur. Even young kids came off bored! Other than the ride’s nifty appearance, the American Flyers were a complete disappointment in every other aspect that simply isn't worth your time in such a great, traditional park filled with better attractions.

Absolutely the most pitiful set of flying skooters Ive been on. Dreadfully slow cycle, castrated rudders, and just an all around lame ride.

APPEARANCE-9 Very clean cars with nice landscaping and a cloud mural very nice looking. CAPACITY-5 At least you can undo your own seatbelt. RIDE QUALITY-2 Very slow with a small rudder which limits steering. FUN-2 Only reason I gave it a two was the fun I had watching Larry. RERIDE-1 Why? OVERALL-19 AVG 3.8 I will go 3 since it has a great look but nothing else.

They are obviously impossble to snap. you can get them moving back and fourth quite a bit, but they just arent good enough. The rudders arent big enough and they run it way too slow.

Call me crazy, but I didnt mind the American Flyers. I was able to get them a bit wobbly, but still no snapping. I only took time to ride once, but I neither loved or hated the ride. They look great as far as the paint scheme goes, which helps my opinion a little. To me, the only thing that seperated them from the Kings Dominion set was that they were run slower, much slower, as opposed to the PKD ones which are too fast, and I have decided that too fast is a lot more fun than too slow. Sure, they cant be snapped, but I still found them to be an ok ride, and like many sets nowadays (and based on the ageset of the riders in line), they are oriented towards children and I think its a good ride for them.Im not bashing anyone, but I think these things get a bum rap by people who praise the Knoebels and PKI/ParCar Flyers, and are rated a bit to harshly, and shouldnt be so much lower than some of the other non-snappable models.

I thought that this ride was pretty cool. Its not designed to be thrilling or scary, but it accomplishes its goal. Its a good ride for little kids and these flyer rides have some history to them. I actually figured out how to use the front panel to turn the bucket in different directions. Not a bad ride.

First and foremost, I must say that I like this ride about 1,000,000 times more than the ride it replaced (evil, yucky top spin). But then, I must also say that I find this ride incredibly boring. I like the historical element and I think its a cute ride...I liked the patriotic theme. Other than that, not worth more than a 5 minute wait and I still dont know why you have to wear a seatbelt.

When I was walking around the park, I saw something out of the corner of my eye. "OOO, is that a flyer?" Nope. It was the Enterprise just starting to work its way up. Then throughout my journey, I saw them. Sweet, flyers. So I got on. Very nice paint job too by the way. Upon entering the gate I asked the ride op "Is it bad to snap these things?" He responded "Well, it is considered bad, but a havent seen anything bad occur from it. So, I figure, they are snap-city. "So I guess you know what you are doing then..." he said to me. "Yup." And off we went... Dear God. That was horrible. That is all I have to say. This ride is horrible.
