my mom forced me to ride this when i was little. so i was too scared to like it
I wish this had a different name. It doesnt come close to living up to Schmecks other Comet at GE.kind of fun, but the reviewers who called this one fast have GOT to go th the Great Escape to ride THE Comet and learn what speed and airtime are all about. Seemed like it needs a little maintenance too. the train tracked funny. And whats with the brake? This ride needs a break like George W Bush needs a science book. If the park isnt crowded give it a go, otherwise skip it and head over to thunder and lightning
. I cant understand all the 10s
While not as wild or as much fun as the GCIs across the park, its still fun and actually faster. And when the brake isnt working, the bunny hill following the second hill will give you a good boost. Herb Scmeck did a number of good coasters and deserves a lot of credit.
Very good ride and it seems to have gained some speed.. great old coaster...
A great rickety exciting historic coaster.
This is a wonderful Herb Schmeck creation. Sometimes the venerable old Comet can run kind of slow, and break on the 2nd turn is a little annoying, but neverless it is always a fun ride. At night time the ride screams and the 2nd turn break doesnt even hurt it that much... it slows down for a bit, but then picks up on the bunny hop filled run through the last turn and into the station. This is my sentimental favorite.
UPDATE: 11/3/2008 Rode this again during Hersheypark in the Dark on 10/31/2008. It felt like the trim break on turn 2 wasn'.t on letting the second half of the ride be taken at a good speed.
A good, old woodie wonderfully maintained with a smooth ride. Almost an 8.
classic woodie, good 1st and 2nd drops and nice air-time. RIDE IN THE BACK FOR MAX AIRTIME! theres usually not a big line for the back seat cuz the general public is stupid and thinks the front seat is best for every coaster...they dont realize that back seat is almost always best for woodies
A very good woodie, but not as good as the Wild Cat across the park. A better first drop though with decent airtime.
One of my favorite PTC coasters, the Comet provides a great, long ride. I just wish the trim brake would be removed on the second turnaround - it really slows down the ride. None the less, the Comet gets better as the day goes on, and night rides are fast and awesome.
