One of the longer rides at Hershey. This classic wooden coaster has a great layout and a good setting over the water. Definatly a fun ride.

The Comet is a wood roller coaster. It was built by PTC. Designed by Herb Schmeck in 1946. It is 84' tall, 2,950' long. It is fun, rerideable, it has a large capacity, and a long duration.

Ahh! Why does there have to be a brakes on the second tunraround? The beginning is awesome - air, laterals, and a semi out-of-control feeling. That all ends after the brakes, as there is no air on the turnaround like there used to be. Its still an OK ride, but not a top 10 one like it was before the brakes were added.

The Comet was a good ride with some airtime. Its smoother than some other woodies Ive been on. It shows that the ride has aged well.

The Comet is a really great roller coaster The first drop is really fun and I like how the second drop is even longer! The speed on the woodie is great and I love the bunny hops at the end. A classic woodie!

This ride would score higher if not for the mid-ride trim brake that seems to bring the train to a complete halt. Looking at the brake on the second turnaround, we wondered if this could have possibly been in Herb Schmecks original design for it wasn’t the modern shoe brakes we are used to. Truly bizarre and a disappointing aspect to this beautiful, lovingly maintained classic. I especially like the first drop suspended over water. This is a design nearly fifty years old. Everything these days is recycled.

Its old, so thats always cool. I remember looking up at the lift as we sat in the station and there was and obvious sway in the track and structure. I thought "Oh my, this is old." It was a good ride though. I went on it twice.

This ride was a dissapointment. The layout looked so awesome, its a classic woodie built by Herb Schmeck and I heard so much praise for the ride- but it was too tame. The first two drops into the river were the best part of the ride but I like airtime and I didnt get any from all those hill because of that trim on the turn. It would be such a great ride if it was only alittle bit faster.

Classic is written all over this. I love it! It has a nice layout, and the little bunny hops you never see until you ride it. It has a good drop and nice speed. But! This ride sufferes from the "bendible car" virus. In other words, in some places (mainly on the lift or whenever the track is alittle crooked looking) you feel the car shift and bend to the track, and with those old cars I always think their gonna splinter apart!

I was pretty young when I rode this ride, yet I still remember it well. We rode it both during the day, and again at night-both were great, a fun ride.
