Good wooden dueling coaster but not the very best.

This is the best wooden coaster i have been on ever. The dueling and racing is awesome.. The coaster is just beautiful and the station is amazing.. It is also a smooth ride unlike the Wildcat(i rode that when it was new and its HAS gotten alot rougher)..

Only Shivering Timbers is a better wooden coaster than this one on my list. This is incredible! The trains on it are awesome, every wooden coaster must have one. This coaster takes two good elements and puts them together. Racing and Dueling. The best thing about this ride is that it is all fast paced, and there is never a guaranteed winner. It is never a blow out either. Grade: 10/10

GCI did it again and another wooden masterpiece is in place to "frame" Hersheyparks Midway America section. Even the run out of the station (possibly the most beautiful station ever built) is fast. While not even being near verticle, the first drop gives that illusion. After the first drop, the second hill quickly followed by the first highly banked turn around is incredible. Then its a quick run through a tunnel, all the while the opposing train is roaring next to you. Then the speed really "seems" to pick up through one twisted mass of track that you need to see to believe. The dueling elements seemed to be lost on me, but at certain key points you are aware that there is another train very close to you and travelling very fast.

UPDATE: 6/14/2007 For the first tiem that I can remember Lightning Racer is showing a little roughness. Nothing bad by far, but noticable to anyone who remembered its smooth as glass first couple of years.

Its smooth. Its beautiful to look at, maybe the most graceful woodie in the world. It provides a better sense of a race than most racers. It has long periods of air time, though its not ejector air.

the first wooden racing/dueling coaster in the usa! very smooth compared to other woodies and loads of fun to compete against friends and family! great 1st drop and fly-bys. it doesnt have a great ending though, and to me thats very important.

My favorite racing coaster. It was a lot of fun and loading times were fast.
