Review of Apocalypse @ Six Flags Magic Mountain

Such an underrated ride, though I'm a big buff of the old school coaster thrills woodies provide. Apocalypse being such a underrated ride is both a blessing and a shame in that it almost seems like no one knows this ride is out in the back of the park. For a long time none of the ride/attraction direction signs point it out, some still don't, and the line is almost always just a walk-on. Only once did I have to wait a good while for the ride, and that was because it was only running one train. While the theming was better when it was 'Terminator: Salvation' it still stands as some of the better theming jobs by the park with the destroyed vehicles, bunker tunnels and even the ride attendants in camouflage. It's good enough theming that last time I rode I noticed a teenage girl in front of me taking photos of the theming and posting them on instragram (complete with 47,000 hashtags like #old #woodencoaster #rust and a billion others). The ride has a decent lift hill that goes into a little slight dip and turn before the first drop and you're off, with immediate headchoppers on that first plunge. It's a fast (feeling faster than it actually is in fact) ride with a lot of tight banks and turns, the tunnel through the train station is always fun and the pyro/fire coming from the Jeep as as you speed down and around it is a great addition addition. My only complaints are the ride is over just a bit too quick and it was better with the Terminator theme. However, as it stands, it's still the most underrated ride at SFMM. Maybe my favorite at the park, but yes, I'm a woody guy.
