I don't think I appreciated the greatness of disney over 22 years ago when I went. Now that I took a recent trip and am older I can see why it is such a top destination park compared to others. Space Mountain is a prime example of this. When you go on a disney ride it isn't just about the actual ride itself. It is about an experience. From the second you start waiting in line till you get on the ride, it is about the theming. It is about taking you to another place or a temporary escape from reality. If you take space mountain for what it is with its actual track layout and nothing else, it can't compare with other coasters. But the darkness and the theming and just the overall experience is what makes it. That is what makes disney and rides like space mountain great. A unique experience you can't get anywhere else.
