Review of Spook-A-Rama @ Denos Wonder Wheel Amusement Park

I wish I could rate this higher, but there are too many problems with this ride. I love old Pretzel dark rides. This one has all the makings of a great old classic spook house that could bring back your childhood fears. Its location is fantastic. It's under the upper level of the boardwalk. So it sits there in all its musty, oil-burn smelling glory. It also has those creepy Pretzel click-click-click cars. It all seems like a great set up, but then once you go through, it falls flat. There is WAY too much stray light in there. Why do they keep those first set of crash doors permanently open? Every time we go on or see a video, those doors are open. There are too many stunts that don't work anymore. We passed many that didn't even light up. If it wasn't for the stray light, we wouldn't even know they were there.

Every time we ride this thing, it's always hit or miss with stunts working. Do yourself a favor and go on the Ghost Hole a block away. It's not nostalgic, but it's old enough and very effective for being just a portable dark ride.
