Just like Spiderman over at IoA is a full on hybrid of dark ride + 3-d movie, the Mummy is equal parts dark ride + roller coaster. An interesting combo, and it works quite well.
The line's theming is impressive, including a huge statue of Anubis. Then you enter the ride, which alternates between its two ride-genres.
The dark ride is quite good. Ancient no-goodnik Im-Ho-Tep unleashes his undead minion, lots of fire, and those creepy carnivorous beetles. The fx are quite well done, the sets moody + detailed, and it has far and away the best audio-animatronic action at Universal.
The coaster is also good. Some scary/sudden turns and dips in the dark, good speed, a little backwards action, and some great airtime going over the small hills.
About the only (small) downsides: the video at the end makes no sense, and it feels a bit on the brief side, but perhaps that's due to divvying up its time to the two distinct types of rides. Overall though, quite a lot of fun.
