My favorite coaster at Mt. Olympus, Cyclops is unique in the sense that it provides more forces and airtime than some coasters twice its size. It took me a few circuits to have the confidence to ride hands-up in the back row (buzz bars just make me nervous), but once I did, I was rewarded by many great trips on one of the pound-for-pound (length-for-length?) best wooden coasters I’ve ever been on. The airtime in the back row is phenomenal, with at least three moments (first drop, second drop, and ravine drop) of stand-up air. Rough but rarely uncomfortable, it pushes the limits without making you feel as though the coaster desires to kill you (something that I can’t always say about Gravity Group coasters). My favorite seat ended up being in the last row, right hand side, which I must have ridden in for at least half of my 13 rides over 2 days. Ultimately, this is a perfect example of how less can be more, and how a well-designed and placed coaster can do great things even when its statistics would suggest otherwise.
