Review of Living Seas, The @ EPCOT

Finding Nemo will certainly go down in history as one of the best all-time cartoon films. Naturally I knew it wouldn’t be long until Disney utilized the popularity of the cartoon to base an attraction off it. Completely redoing the old Living Seas ride (I unfortunately never experienced it before it was removed though), it was transformed into a flashy new Nemo dark ride, but sadly it just wasn’t very good at all.

The Seas pavilion looked nice from the outside and I loved how it was air-conditioned on the inside (honestly that may have been the best feature of the entire attraction). Also, thanks to the utilization of constantly moving vehicles like the Haunted Mansion uses, this never has a line at all from what I saw, and it was the new attraction this year! One other comment about the attraction are the clam-mobiles. I honestly thought they looked nice, but once I boarded and the actual ride began, it just was a massive letdown in my opinion.

First and foremost, I really disliked how the ride utilized projections for the characters, as opposed to the much better animatronics. I know animatronics probably would have been more expensive and difficult to implement, but I think that they would have made this ride dramatically better. The projections just looked and felt weird in my opinion. Also, the ride’s plot was terrible and just very confusing, with the problem being that Disney was determined to include every single one of the movie’s characters, which caused just some unnecessary scenes being included in the attraction, and it just really hurt my overall ride experience. Despite my love of the movie, I honestly was just bored to death on this attraction. The best part by far during the actual ride was the section displaying the actual fish.

While I’m sure many others enjoy the new Nemo ride and theme far more than the original Living Seas, but I just really was extremely disappointed in Nemo. I was expecting a pretty fun ride with animatronics and a typical good Disney ride experience, but I didn’t get either of those. Worse than those, Nemo really seemed to lack that all-important Disney charm many of their dark rides are well-known for. Certainly Nemo is worth giving a chance while at EPCOT, especially if you’re a fan of the film, since it never has a wait, but I guess just go on with minimal expectations.

I accidentally posted this here instead of at the real Nemo ride. Could this please be deleted? Please and thank you. I'm so sorry.
