Review of Insanity @ Stratosphere Hotel Casino, The

This was by far the most terrifying ride I have ever been on in my life. Why in the world I trusted my life to the engineers that built this contraption I am not sure. But I can promise you that nobody ever walks away from this ride without a thrill. Let me begin by saying that I have done some crazy stuff like jumping out of planes as a soldier and doing the bunjee jump in front of Circus Circus in &#39.03.

The bunjee was scarier for about 10 seconds, but this ride filled me with pure and utter terror for a good several minutes. It seemed like the cowards way out after the bunjee, because once strapped in, the decision was made for me. I was nervous as we stepped out onto the outer deck to get seated. I do not like heights to begin with, so this was a doozy of a ride. As they strapped me in, a wave of fear rose within me and I started to question my sanity. I announced this to my seatmate, a jolly good Australian bloke. He echoed my sentiments and admitted that having told his parents he was going to ride it, could not back out.

The machine lifted us up and started drifting to my right, slowly but unstoppably swinging its giant claw to the edge of the deck. Within seconds I was nearly 1,000 feet above Las Vegas Boulevard, and I was seriously questioning my grip on reality and wondering whether I could keep myself from screaming, crying, or freaking out in some other way. I knew I did not want to die. Then the spinning started. Friends, when you are dangling in the sky by a steel arm and spun at many RPM&#39.s, I don&#39.t care how secure that strap is that holds you into the ride, it is pure adrenalin coarsing through your veins as you wonder exactly how much time and effort went into designing the safety features of the ride.

After what seemed like an eternity, during which my body and mind accepted the horrible sickening height and spinning, the machine finally brought us back to safety. I was so happy to be alive. It was a feeling much like getting back on the earth after the bunjee, and I would say it was definitely an experience I will never ever forget.

If you dare to sit on this ride and let them spin you crazily above the earth more than once, my hat is off to you. I don&#39.t know if I will do this ride again. It may simply be too good of a ride. On the other hand, I might have to go back just to test my nerve and see if I am man or mouse.

Nice review, and welcome to the site. I haven'.t ridden any of the Stratosphere rides yet, but I can well imagine that I wouldn'.t be able to crap a BB after getting on this thing.
