Review of The Boudin Bakery @ California Adventure

The Boudin Bakery is a more interesting, entertaining, and complete tour of how sourdough bread is made than the Mission factory next door is for tortillas. The free sample comes at the beginning here, prior to watching a pre-show hosted by Colin Mochrie and an uncharacteristically not-annoying Rosie O Donnell. Videos of Colin and Rosie then lead guests from one place to the next in the factory, explaining the entire production of sourdough bread from beginning to end. I find the whole process actually quite fascinating, and it is great to see it explained on the videos and then be able to watch it actually happening on the machines in front of you. Plus there are enough reasonably funny jokes sprinkled throughout the presentation to keep it entertaining, as a theme park attraction should be. Be warned that the exit of the tour is right at the entrance to the soup / sourdough breadbowl restaurant, and it is hard to resist after having just seen all that bread! All in all, this is not a top attraction at California Adventure, but I do feel it is definitely superior to the tortilla factory tour. I have no idea what will become of either of these during the renovation of the park. They seem like very minor attractions that could easily be replaced, especially since they do not really seem to fit the direction the new park will be heading. But I have not heard any indication of this. We will have to wait and see I guess.
