Date ridden: Summer and Fall of 2007. Times Ridden: 2 Since this ride is going the way of the Dinosaur, I though I might need to go ahead and get this review posted since I do have a number of positive comments. First, HXLC had (and Im speaking in past tense here) one of the most insane launches of any coaster I have ridden including TTD, KK, Xcelerator, and Superman: Escape. When this baby kicked in, you were absolutely pinned to your seat. The forces one felt were absolutely insane. The 100 foot hill offered a spot of airtime and the overbanked turn some intense laterals. Following that is the small hill with the brake run on the other side. That was a typical 20 second ride on HXLC. Now, lets look at the problems which led to the downfall of this ride. The complaints most people had were valid. The capacity on this thing was beastly. WIth only 2 train operation and only 8 seats per train, you were going to have at least a 1 hour wait at any time of the day. Also, HXLC was extremely uncomfortable when compared to the Intamin launched coasters. The turn was brutal on the ears and the stop was painful even if one were prepared. Also, when visiting KD, you were hit or miss on even getting to ride this. We actually skipped Volcano to hit this first since it is common knowledge the ride went down normally 2 or 3 times per day. So with the capacity, ride problems, and the umcomfortable forces generated by the ride why do I still give it an 8? The launch, dude....the launch! In my humble opinion, there is not a more powerful launch in the US. That in itself makes this coaster worth an 8 despite its many shortcomings.
