Review of Steel Force @ Dorney Park

This ride is "awesome sauce." I didnt actually expect much from the ride by the looks of the reviews, but you still gotta love its simple layout chock full of great camelbacks and a pretty good first drop. The lift was nice and quiet, but you cant really get much view because of Morgans trains. But the lap bars in the trains were very loose, so first time riders might get caught off guard a little bit because of this. But once you get used to this, you feel very free, and youll be glad to raise your arms on those bunny hops. The second hill was pretty boring though and you get no airtime on it. The turnaround, on the other hand, was pretty neat. Then comes the brake run and the camelbacks, and thats the ride. Overall, Steel Force doesnt give you that violent air time that Magnum gives, but instead you get some great floater air on the hills, which is just as good. Definitely give this underrated coaster a spin when youre in the park, and you wont be disappointed...really.

I agree, I love the loose lapbars and there is great airtime. The trims must be down this year or something. Definitely a surprise for me and made Dorney worth it. Hey, Ill take the low-seated Morgan trains for that large amount of lap-bar freedom anyday.

No offense, but I highly disagree with you about Steel Force being underrated. In fact, its one of the most overrated steel coasters in the world as it seems to top a lot of coaster lists despite its basic out-and-back layout. The rides fun & all, but Ive been on it so many times & its not really the type of ride which seems to get better the more times you ride it (a la El Toro, Superman: Ride of Steel (SFNE)). Aside from the bunny hills & the helix, the rest of the ride, including the first drop, is average at best. The first drop leaves you hanging at the top for a few seconds & as you mentioned before, the 2nd drop does nothing for it.

The first drop is 200 feet. It may not be the best hyper drop, but its not half bad. Okay, the second hill is pointless. So first drop, 200 footer, sucks, second hill sucks, helix good, bunnys good. Not much bad IMO.
