I loved this version so much. As much as I love WDW, its version simply cannot compare to this one.

Yeah I grew up on the WDW version. I went on the one in Tokyo which is based on Disneyland and was blown away. So much longer and better! I dont understand why they would make WDW 3 times as large as Disneyland, then castrate one of the signature rides.

perhaps you both can take a second and explain why its better. i know its longer. but the key scenes are identical form what Ive heard and seen.

Because Pirates was not part of the original plan for the Magic Kingdom. They incorrectly assumed that it wouldnt be exotic enough in Florida. When WDW opened guests complained about the lack of Pirates. So they shoehorned an abbreviated version of the ride into whatever space they could free up for the attraction.

Youd have to be on crack to think the Florida Pirates is equivalent. Anaheims Pirates has a really amazing drop in total darkness, which is an amazing sensation that is accompanied by a bit of mist. Floridas drop is pathetic in comparison. Anaheims Pirates has the Blue Bayou restaurant, the best restaurant in all of Disneyland, located *inside* the ride. You get to watch the boats float by as you eat some pretty damn good food. Its also unique to float by the restaurant. Anaheims has a pretty neat part after the drop where you go through some rocky caves that is totally absent in Florida. Then there is an effect where they project Davy Jones onto some mist. I dont want to give away too much because its a dark ride. In short, the Anaheim ride is far longer, the scenes are larger and more detailed, and there are many little bonuses/details that Florida outright lacks. I rode the Florida Pirates about a month after riding the Anaheim version earlier this year and was sorely disappointed with how much Floridas sucks.
