Review of Raptor @ Cedar Point
2 Rating Posted by: sfo1 on 8/5/2007 8:13:00 PM
As I sit and ponder what to write about my experience aboard this beautiful beast, it is hard for me to find an appropriate rating which can be placed atop my review of Raptor. Visually, it is one of the most impressive attractions in the park. When I was a little tyke, the giant, roaring footprint of the invert sent me into shivers and nervousness. Ten years later, or somewhere in that area, it no longer has the same effect, but certainly still creates a feeling of awe to stand under this architectural masterpiece. Upon entering the queue, I am struck by a feeling of amazement that after 13 years of service to the amusement community, Raptor is still able to attract wait times excess of one hour. Perhaps this is partly due to the fact that the main entrance is so conveniently placed adjacent to Raptors station, or that its menacing green footprint still has the same affect as back in 94. A few days previous to my review, I had the opportunity of catching a ride immediately after a mechanical problem was fixed, and the result was a near walk - on, with a 45 - minute filling queue behind me. Hehe. Of course, when one straps themselves into the OTSRs, B&Ms comfy seating arrangements are noticeable. The transition from the steeply curved drop into the loop is seemless, fast, and relatively intense. The cobra roll was not very rough to my memory, and only resulted in very minor headbanging. Of course the zero - g roll is a blast, and the MCBR did not apply any pressure at all. The second half is very intense, and the final helix is amazing. While Raptor didnt seem entirely "10 worthy", I still would generously apply a "9". Cedar Fair made a good decision with this one, as it has proven itself worthy of its large price tag for over 13 years.
