Review of Desperado Plunge @ The Great Escape

This is an enjoyable log flume ride. Located along the left side of the park, there is a decent amount of theming to fit it into the Ghost Town area. The duration and speed were both fine, and while the final drop was not huge, it was fun nonetheless. I noticed that you probably wont get too wet on the drop, unless a bystander happens to nail your log with one of the water cannons set up along the straightaway after the drop. If thats the case, you may end up getting soaked!

The water cannons get you pretty wet. Not quite soaked but close. Down fall is the ride was shortened to make room for the Canyon blaster coaster.

Its funny that most of the negative comments toward the Canyon Blaster are directed not as much toward the ride itself as toward all of the other attractions that its construction affected. From the sound of things, two rides had to go to make way for the Canyon Blaster, and now you mention that this log flume got altered for the worse too. I never visited the Great Escape during its pre-Canyon Blaster days, and that may be a good thing, or else I might have a more negative attitude toward that coaster as well.

Ill try to find my Pre canyon blaster Photo. You had a wide 15ft of so walk way with well themed western style building on both sides. The Tornado dark ride took up the building to the right. There was a walkway along the back of the building and The Ghost town Train had its station in that location. The flume left the station and mad a couple s bends to the right towards the tornado ride and mad a wide turn around and then right to connect to the straight away that leads to the lift now. They removed 150-300ft from the start of the ride.

Thanks for the info. What was the Tornado ride like?

It was dated but allot of fun. It did need an update most of the sets were paper mishear people like in the Plunge and there was likely less them a dozen mechanical gags. Basically you road in a Model t car through the ride. you saw a few Spinning Walls and crooked halls building as if you were inside the Tornado. Chickens flew in the air. a Car spun in circles. It was fun and anyone could ride. while it needed updates it had allot of charm. like the older Disney dark rides.

Yeah, that does sound like fun, in a unique, old-fashioned, cheesy sort of way.

With a bit of money the ride would have been even better. Mild cleaning and make sure all the gags worked. While is was cheesy it was just more enjoyable and worth driving to then Canyon Blaster.
