Dragon Coaster is a fun, classic wooden roller coaster that has served the test of time. Located near the front of the park, you can see the Dragon Coasters beautiful, white wooden track from the parking lot and almost anywhere in the park. From the parking lot, the Dragon Coaster looked like a longer ride than I thought it was. The curved station looks great when looking at the ride with its classic lettering and structure. Generally, the Dragon Coaster has a 5-15 minute wait because they only run one train and its a pretty long ride. Loading the Dragon Coaster rather quickly, the Dragon Coaster has a 24 seat Morgan train. The train was kelly green and white with a logo of a Dragon on the front of the train. Unfortunately, you cant wait for a certain seat so you have to hope that the seat you want hasnt already been taken when you select your seat. I found the Morgan trains to be roomy, with no seatbelt and only a black buzz-bar. The best seat is the back seat because of the air-time on the first drop. Once the ride began, you turned out of the station and ascended up a long lift hill (only about 75ft tall) and go around a U-turn. You then descend down the 70ft drop with the riders in the back seats getting some good air-time. Then, the train surges up a hill and goes around a turn around. Following that was a double dip followed by a hill propelling you into the dragon tunnel. The green tunnel looks outstanding, is filled with mist, and dark. Afterwards is a sudden drop. For the rest of the Dragon Coaster, the ride travels back and forth within its layout traveling over many hills that sadly lack air-time. On one hill riders in the front seats get a pop of air-time. Overall, a long and fun coaster that shouldnt be missed. I highly recommend this ride to anyone who enjoys classic wooden roller coasters. This is the best roller coaster at Rye Playland.
