Review of Double Shot @ Playland Amusement Park

I loved the Double Shot at Rye Playland and its my favorite ride at Rye Playland. Not as good as Canobies Star Blaster, this black, S&S Double Shot tower is towards the left of the park entrance. A walk-on every time I rode it, Double Shot loaded and unloaded very quickly. Riding in red seats, Double Shot seats 3 riders on each side. Just before the ride begins, the ride shoot some smoke out from the base of the ride. Though it looks cool from while not on the ride, its sort of bothersome while on the ride. Once the ride begins, you are slowly hoisted up to a launch position. You have no warning when you will launch so it can be sudden. The quick launch is very strong for a small tower like this (85ft tall). At the top you get some insane ejector air. Then you plummet back down getting a brief stomach dropping sensation and launched back up again. You get some more outstanding air-time and then drop back down. Before the ride ends you bounce up and down gradually lowering back to ground level. Overall, an excellent S&S Double Shot and the best ride at Rye Playland. I highly recommend Double Shot for thrill-seekers who enjoy any drop towers. Double Shot isnt as tall as some other models, this is a great tower to introduce people to drop towers with.

I rode this last year. Did you ride with a full load? The park was deserted when I visited and I was on this ride alone or with 2 or 3 people all day.

A bit short I think it ran with 9 or 10 riders. The park was reasonably busy come afternoone when I road it. but it was just laking any power.

Well people say that S&S towers get weaker over time (Star Blaster certainly has) and maybe thats what is happening to this one.

Star blaster isnt really weaker then it was before. more likely were used to the experience. doesnt phase up the same. This ride went way beyond any sort of weaker ride do to age.
