Review of Wild One, The @ Six Flags America
2 Rating Posted by: BobFunland on 9/10/2006 12:00:00 PM
I nearly forgot to review this one, but certainly have not forgotten the ride. Wild One suprised me - even though I had read some reviews and had been told it was a great ride, I really didnt know what "good" meant. Walking up, the station was deserted - is this REALLY a good ride? I took advantage and rode in the very front row. Up the liftt we went, and down into a crazy out and back leg. There was some seriously strong ejector-style airtime on most of the hills, it really became a wild ride. THE Wild One, duh. With a deserted station, I was able to take a couple of rides in a short span of time. I feared that if I would venture into the back of the train, that the ride just wouldnt be as good. Well on one of my rides I did go to the back and it was also enjoyable - but to me, not as good as the front. Wild One is a rare woodie in that its a front row ride. It is amazing to think that this kind of coaster can be so old, yet so good... and yet be in a pretty mediocre park.

this a weird coaster. its been altered so many times its barely the same coaster. ive seen pictures of the "giant coaster" during its first john miller incarnation, and you wouldnt recognize it. its amazing to me how well the most recent six flags reprofiling turned out. its a great coaster, and rides really smooth too. i totally agree with this review on all points. you forgot to mention the helix, though. it is a very noteworthy helix, perhaps more intense laterals than even the thunderbolt. they even trim it going into the helix and its still brutal.

The helix makes this ride. I like this ride a lot, but it is no where near a 10 for me. Very good review, as I agree with all of your points, but you did forget about the helix, which I find to be the best part of the ride.

Honestly I thought it was a good helix but not great. Im probably not the biggest fan of helices on woodies (which is why rides like Legend and MB Hurricane do little for me)

I love the helix, but to me the best part of the ride is the airtime on the 2nd or 6th hill.
And if it means anything, several guys from SFAFans.com say its running better in 06 than it ever has.

Oh, I dont think Wild One rivals the lateral gs found on the T-bolt...they are somewhat comparable, but Thunderbolt wins out I think
