Review of Cornball Express, The @ Indiana Beach

This incredible ride came as a complete surprise to me. It doesnt look like much, but it packs the best ejector air Ive ever encountered. The airtime on the third drop is positively breath stealing. The back seat is the best ride to me, but the front isnt shabby either. The middle is somewhat boring, avoid it. This ride really must be ridden again and again to fully appreciate the genius of it. Fortunately, theres almost never a line. I was able to reride it virtually indefinitely without even having to wait for a single run of the train to go. The ride ops are a bit grouchy on the Cornball Express, and they wont let you "wait for special seats". This is stupid, but it does process the line through quickly, which is especially important with single train operation.
Update: I got several rides on this over the past weekend during ERT sessions. Cornball is still running great. There is a rough spot at the bottom of the first drop, but its not a big deal. The ride tracks extremely well everywhere else. CCI and IB really nailed it with this project. This just goes to show that you dont have to build a massive coaster to have a great ride, especially where wood is concerned.

i care, man. lovers of wood are always encouraged by me. of course i love steel coasters, but i feel that a deep appreciation for wood is necessary for true coaster cultivation. i sense that you really love a good wood coaster, i appreciate that.

Ha. Yeah, Im just encouraged by any park that maintains its wood. Ill go on coaster trips, and ride bad woodie after bad woodie. Its a downer. Though some steelies get the maintenance bums rush as well. Revolution at SFMM should be one of the countrys best coasters, but is a slow, overbraked, rough mess with OTSRs *and* a lapbar, even though the coaster was engineered for lapbars only.

yeh, the whole of story about the revolution is a drag. ive been in LA 3 times in the last five years and i always seem to lose my motivation somehow to go out to MM. before i go to LA i think im going to hit MM, but once i get there i get into a "nah" kinda vibe. its strange, as if my "nah" mood is my sub-conscious warning me away, in spite of the allure of tons of coasters. the three coasters im most drawn to there - x, revolution and colossus seem to all be long on the wane.

You should probably hit Magic Mountain just so you can know what everyone is talking about. They have a few decent coasters, but the place really should be better. All their B&Ms rattled something fierce when I was there, except Tatsu. Tatsu is fun just for the sheer size of it, but flyers arent my thing.

I can confirm that Revolution and Colossus are both not great rides. Colossus can be OK in some seats, but its really just another under maintained woodie. I just read that Colossus used to have a double down with massive airtime that was removed. Revvie is bizarrely rough for a ride with only one inversion. I cant comment on X, as it was down when I was there. Best of luck to you in even getting on that ride.
