Review of Boss @ Six Flags St. Louis
3 Rating Posted by: coaster05 on 4/6/2006 7:11:00 PM
This is a pretty good ride to be my 500th review here on TPC because it has the distinction of being the roughest ride that I really like. Make no mistake this ride will take it to you, but in such a way that you feel it is worth the beating it gives. Reminds me of what the Mean Streak was before CP caved and put brakes everywhere. CAPACITY-8 Two trains but the ops were not the most effecint. It also has one of the longest ques I have ever seen. APPEARANCE-10 Top notch from the entrance which works great with that areas theme, to being just a beautiful, sprawling woodie with a great wooded backdrop. RIDE QUALITY-8 I will mark off a couple for the fact that multiple rerides are almost an impossibility due to the force this ride puts on you. But as I have mentioned in several reviews with rougher woodies I prefer the butt kicking as opposed to the addition of trims. FUN-10 It is like being drug behind a crazy dog sled. The ride is relentless, fast, and has a little air. Once you go down the hill it is on, full board until the end. I may have been laughing with fear, or even back pain but I was still laughin. RERIDE-10 My favorite ride in the park and a must do at this park. OVERALL-46 AVG-9.2 Not enough air to be a ten, but good enough that I have some other woodies who need to be reevaluated.

i love a rough coaster if it has great forces and pacing - but small air is small air. for a ride with such obvious physical beauty, boss gets less ecstatic reivews than its stellar appearance would lead one to think. yours is a positive review, but small air on such a cool looking ride is disappointing to hear. i must say, c05, that i can tell how much you really appreciate a wood coaster. nice review.

Thanks guys for the positive comments I appreciate it. Bob I am slowly bringing over all my coaster reviews for a different audience to read, I just am doing it slowly so they dont get buried and I have time to add to some of my weaker ones.

in a wooden coaster i dont exactly look for air. i look for speed thrillsthe felling that your going to fly off the track the dips and turns you dont see because your either too scared or the supports block it. i also like the roar the woodies make. thats why i dont like out and backs. you know whats going to happen. thats why i like twisters because you dont know whats going to happen. thats also why some of my favorite companies are b&m gravity group and gci. can ya tell?

Those are pretty much everyones favorite companies. Not looking for air is pretty rare amongst wooden fans, but hey to each his own. I dont have to get air for it to be a great ride, that usually is just something found in a great ride.
