Review of Space Ship Earth @ EPCOT

I cannot believe they fit all of that "stuff" inside the giant white ball. I had always wondered what was in here and this is it. I was disappointed by the ride, there are plenty of older rides at Disney World but most seem ok and can avoid looking old. Well, Spacehip Earth really DID feel incredibly dated to me. Its BAD when the ride ops greet you with a "wake up" as if they are used to it. I could easily see people falling asleep, in fact, at least one member of our party did. I dont quite get where communication fits into the idea of a giant white ball, nor where the communication bit ends and the black tunnel part begins, but it wasnt TERRIBLE but it was pretty bad.

Stuff about the ride aside for now... architect R. Buckminster Fuller devised geodesic structures like the one that houses Spaceship Earth specifically to be roomy on the inside.

I agree with you this ride is bad. I almost feel asleep on it the time I rode it. Im going to skip it in july when I go back.

Im the old one out here I gues. I like the ride. The GeoSphere is more a theme for EPOCOT then the ride. I can admit that some of the areas use older animatronics and some effects are dated but many are top nitch. The bark ages for example the Burned city with room smelling of smoke and filled with charded rouble and fire.

I LOVE this ride. Its a great educational and (to me) interesting trip through history with some great scenes and animatronics. The track and cars need to be replaced but the rest of the ride is fine. If you fall asleep on this ride, theres something wrong with you, not the ride.

I really like this ride but I think it needs some major updates. Disneys updateing pirates, and pirates was perfect the way it was on the other hand this ride could use some updates and knowing disney it probably will sometime.

Ya but how. They dont need a coaster in this thing that would bea waist. What updates would you like to see. I agree the tram system is a bit dated but what other system woudl be better. they cant but in somethign largr they isnt the room. and you cant seporate things out without loosing capacity.

What about the same seating as in the haunted mansions with out the doom buggie look.

"bark ages" I missed the part where dogs ruled the earth.

IMO this ride still captures the orginal essence of EPCOT so I still enjoy it but it is far from a must ride. The seats are also massively uncomfortable.

I guess disney cant update this ride because we cant figure out how they would do it. Because we are smarter than they are. Im sure if they wanted to they could re-do this ride and it would be great.

^mmmm sarcasm I totally get where you are coming from.

Ya but I dont see throughing out any idea. Anyway the ride is good. i agree the cars are uncomfertable. Perhaps they could add a sim bas to a system similare to what they have or liek hausnted mantion. Move you so its more of a tour then a ride through. Update some drab seams like the rome street with the laser chariat witha high end Projection.

There run through Spell check though most of them were off in the middle and the Human brain can poses them.

Im tired of reading senseless shit that I have to reread half a dozen times to figure out what the hell is being said. Danny there must be something wrong with a lot of folks because not only did the ride ops mention something, the dude on the Ferry (the "guide" not just some random person) also said "I hear thats a great place to take a nap". Seems to be a common thing...

"brain can poses them" , "ya but I dont see throwing out any idea" Wow it has goten so much clearer now. MRC take the extra minute to read your post back to yourself to make sure you have all the words, etc. You have posted 11,000 times there is no way you shouldnt be getting better at this.

I think the next update to the cars needs to include comfortable headrests. It will then be good for everyone. I personally like the attraction too but must admit that a few times I have nearly had my brain stem severed by the bump that wakes me up as you go downhill. You just cannot find a good place to rest your head on this one.

Bob, you are correct in saying that there is something wrong with the ride ops, ferry dude, and lots of other folks

2007 - Spaceship Earth Renovation - Rumor - (7/10/06) While it has been known that Seimens signed on as the new sponsor for Spaceship Earth awhile back, nothing much has come of this yet. However plans to make changes are in the works. We’ve heard that the plan is to reopen a new version of the Global Neighborhood area at the exit of the ride as well as update a few scenes inside the ride itself in time for Epcot’s 25th Anniversary on October 1st, 2007.

It looks like we are getting the needed rehab.
