Loch Ness Monster: The most beautiful mustard-yellow Arrow coaster in the world! It is a decent ride, and really has kind of a grudge about it! The loops are flat-out intense, and almost in a painful way! A couple of drops have pops of air in the back, (including the large first drop) which is a big plus for a looper. It blends in with its surrounding well, and it feels like you are on a bit of history so perfectly preserved in the heart of Busch Gardens Europe. It is not a perfect ride however, and a big reason is because of wacky pacing. A great first drop leads to an extremely weak turn around. More momentum is picked up headed into the loop, which spits you back out into a curve with good speed as well. The preceeding indoor-helix could be flat out legendary, only there is a nasty trim brake right in the way!! Now, a completely-dark 20 times around helix or whatever is very cool, but I could just imagine how great that would be with no trimming (and with some illumination which I believe they have taken out somewhere along the line). I dont care if it would be rough as crap, I just want to see what a nearly 30 year old monster can do to me! Then, there is a second lift hill which kills the pace as well. There is a whole lot of good with Loch Ness Monster, accept for the fact that it really doesnt just seem to have much speed at all in some places. Thats probably what it was designed to do, but for the thrill factor for me, all those slow parts just kill the sustained fun. Still definitely above average, and if the ACErs insist, a prime piece of roller coaster history.
