Review of Scorpion @ Busch Gardens Tampa

My least favorite ride at BGT. It is old, so I do realize that I shouldnt expect much, but it really doesnt have any elements that are intense enough to get the heart racing. The loop is lackluster and the helix is to tight and short. Definately a ride to skip if you only have one day at BGT.

OK, I can accept the 4, but the reasons behind it puzzle me a bit. You think the loop is lackluster whereas I think its the best of the four vertical loops in the park, mainly because it is more intense than the others. Helix too tight? What do you prefer, a wide-diamater one with weaker forces? Too short? Is ~1260o (3.5 full circlues) really too short? I think you are a bit misguided in your explanation.

Ive never liked the "old" thing myself. I guess that is because I got into an argument a while back with someone that there were a few new coasters that werent that great and they think that all new coasters are good because they are new. I dont know if this really ties in that much here, but I saw the "I shouldnt expect much" comment and it just kind of reminded me of that kind of thing.

Sorry for bagging on yalls ride, but it has an extremely short ride time, no speed what-so ever, and if there are 3.5 full circles in the helix than you would never know it because it is over so quickly and seems to have no force to it. I say the helix is to tight because it seems to have no force instead of to much. Maybe if the element was extended at a higher speed, I could appreciate it more. Thanks for the comments though.

By all means rate as you please, you can pick on the ride all you want for all I care - I just didnt follow your logic.. and I still dont. How can a ride have "no speed whatsoever" yet navigate 1260 degrees so fast that you say "it is over so quickly"? Doesnt that sound a little contradictive? See, its not the beliefs, its the logic behind it that I question.

If they increased the radius the intensity would be less. You dont get a more intense ride by increasing the radius. Now, if you want to enter the helix faster thats fair, because the coaster is comparatively slow, but whats to expect from an 60-70 foot tall ride?

Same thoughts as my boy B. Fun. Its not my ride either. Never been on it. It was just the logic behind everything that was a little weird to me. Base rides if you feel fit, but it just didnt seem like it was right the way that you put it.

I think Busch gardens point of this coaster is to have a family coaster and to have a "begginers" coaster for little kids.and no speed? Scorpion goes 50mph.

I think that B. Fun and I are in agreement that an Anton model coaster is the perfect first major coaster for children or whatever. I agree with you on that for the most part there Hulk.

The only thing I would disagree with is that you should skip it, its one of only a few in the world. I would ride it, just to have ridden a rare model.

Nothing left to say just placing my vote with BFL and Herc. Draing the elements out make them less forceful.
