Review of Mayan Mindbender @ Six Flags Astroworld

This was a very fun little ride that was made all the better by the superior theming that it exhibited. The exterior of the ride is a neat Mayan temple, and the queue winds through very lush tropical vegetation. Once inside, it is a very dimly-lit chamber that serves as the station. The train is pretty long and each car can accomodate either one, two, or three riders. The ride itself is completely enclosed and completely in the dark. My guess is that this is some kind of junior coaster that is made to felt like much more being that you cant really see anything. Going up the lift hill, you hear some spooky moans and a shrill recorded scream, before doing the ride itself. It actually reminded me quite a bit of Disneylands Space Mountain, making mostly right turns until the very end when you make a sharp left. I felt this was an effective ride for both the beginner and the experienced coaster enthusiast.

To me, the "very lush tropical vegetation" was definately ruined by the abundance of old gum stuck everywhere. That and I thought the ride was lame but if you like it then you like it and thats fine by me

I didnt notice much gum in random places, but all over Astroworld there were little bulls eye target tables set up for you to put your gum on. They were kind of gross but kind of funny. I guess those came into play ever since there was a choking incident on a piece of gum on a ride at a Six Flags park (I cant remember which one), though Ive never noticed these at other parks. Anyway, maybe that did alleviate the problem of sticking gum in any old place you want around the park.
