Review of Yankee Cannonball, The @ Canobie Lake Park

Nice single out and back classic woodie. Its not overly huge or long, but for its size its very thrilling and has some great laterals without being rough at all, which really surprised me, considering its the second-oldest coaster Ive ridden. If it had 2 trains running Id even consider giving it a 10, as the line got too long especially toward the end of the day for single train operation.

I dont know how you would judge a ride based on the line. I mean, they vary from day to day. So, if you would have gone on a dreary, rainy day, and it would have been a walk-on, it would have been a 10? No, thats not right. Judge based on the ride, not the line or opps.

Capacity is a very real issue as far as judging a ride so I side with ibluv. The line overall is very slow like most lines at this park.

Judging a ride based on capacity and ride ops is something that I factor in on most occasions. It is all part of the overall experience of the ride. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I dont. It all depends on how good or bad the ride is and how much those other factors take away from the ride.

In this case the capacity was the number one detracting experience for me.

As much as you all likely think I will side with coasterf42 I cant. The line and attendance do affect the way a coaster or any ride in fact gets viewed. Canobie has had some line and capacity problems over the last couple years they seemto be geting worse and not better. So the raiting is fare. I too whish they woudl do something. the second train I understand is a safty ishe and somthing the goverment is up in arme about. since the coaster is completly reworked they should at least be able to add another car to the train.

Another thing that bothered me about this ride: there was a kid who jumped the line and when I told the op about it, she didnt do anything. But except for this one ride I didnt find the lines to be too bad at Canobie, although I did go at the end of the season and bad weather was forecasted for that day.

Normaly the Ops are good abotu Stoping linen jumpers. they will often have a manager or security guard watch the line on really buisy days to stop any line jumpers.

Acutaly the Lightning stright was just one problem. there was also parcial damage do the a Blizzard and then a fire distroyed teh origanal station and part of the lift hill. The coaster was completly retracked and two hills rebuilt in 2002 and in 2005 the back turn was reprofiled to reduce lateral Gs

Was it reprofiled before or after the 05 season started? Cuz I was very impressed with the Gs.

Before, They lifted and Banked the back turn a bit. mostly it was to stop the verry intence through that haponed when you went into the drop. I find the ocaster to be far better. Especialy as the year went on.
