Swing rides can be broken down into two categories- wave swingers and the Chance yo-yo style swings like the Great Escape’s. Typically I enjoy the wave swingers significantly more than the Chance versions, but this one definitely stands out as a pretty good Chance swinger. Located in Storytown, I absolutely love the ride’s placement on top of a hill. Off-ride it really doesn’t look like much, but while on the ride it just makes the experience much more enjoyable since you feel much higher up than you really are. Along with the attraction’s great placement, the Flying Trapeze appeared very well maintained and its capacity is also very high, leading to lines being non-existent for this swinger.

Once seated in one of the many swings, it was apparent that this would be a better than average swinger, namely due to its aforementioned incredible placement on top of the hill, which really increases the thrill factor during the attraction. In terms of the ride itself though, the park runs it an average speed for this type of attraction and the cycle seemed pretty typical of swinger in my opinion. One complaint I do have about the attraction itself is how the attraction lacks the tilt-feature that all other Chance swingers that I’ve been on have utilized. It’s an often overlooked element, but it really adds to the thrill level of the attraction in my opinion and that really is the only thing holding this swinger back from being a truly standout attraction.

All in all, the Flying Trapeze equates to being one of the better Chance swingers I’ve been on almost exclusively due to its placement, but it still can’t touch the far more thrilling wave swingers I’ve been on, not by a long shot. If only it tilted, because if it did, it would surly be the best of the Chance swingers I’ve been on. But hey, nonetheless it is well worth giving a ride while at the park solely based on its stellar location and the fact that it’s always a walk-on no matter when you choose to ride.
