Review of Persian Camel Funhouse @ Yorks Wild Kingdom

Fun houses are often renowned as a truly, classic amusement park attraction, as while incredibly simply in design, they are incredibly enjoyable generally thanks to their wide array of elements. Nowadays, fun houses are a dying breed pretty much anywhere outside of the fair circuits, but York’s thankfully isn’t following this trend, as they’re home to two very unique and enjoyable fun houses in the Persian Kamel and Jungle Fun Houses. This review deals with the worse of the two, but no means a bad fun house at all- the Persian Kamel Fun House.

Let me start of by saying that this fun house definitely has a carnival-feel to it. However, the elements featured on the attraction are prominently displayed and really capture my attention. I especially love the unique shifting staircase that really looks exciting off-ride and the ominous carousel platform high above the ground. Add in no lines ever existing, and the Persian Kamel Fun House has the recipe for success, and trust me, the ride delivers for the most part.

Once I boarded the attraction, I had mixed-feelings. On one hand, the upward, shifting staircase is simply incredible and easily one of the best features of any fun house I’ve been on. Also, the carousel platform is a neat, little delight and the barrel at the end is the best I’ve ever experienced since the park is incredibly generous in that they have no care whatsoever regarding how long you spend in it.

On the other hand however, the Persian Kamel is plagued by a few issues that really hold it back in my opinion. First and foremost, is the maintenance of it. While the Jungle Fun House occasionally has some of its elements down, this has always had about half of its elements broken during each of my rides. The park never has made any effort to repair the various moving floors and spinners contained on the lower half of the attraction, which really is a shame since if they were operational this could rival some of the best fun houses I’ve been on. Also, this walkthrough simply ends too quickly in my opinion, namely due to the lack of operational elements.

The Persian Kamel Fun House really is a mixed-bag that contains some really cool elements mixed in with half of them being in-operational. Because of this, the Persian Kamel certainly is one of the park’s better attractions, but it just pales in comparison to the much more unique and better-executed Jungle Fun House. Still, despite its issues, the incredible shifting staircase, barrel, and carousel platform alone make this unique fun house well worth experiencing during a visit to York’s.
