Review of Scrambler @ Yorks Wild Kingdom

Scramblers will forever remain one of my all-time favorite flats, and well, York’s really knows how to run their flats, and their Scrambler is included in this observation. Located across from the Spiral Twirl towards the back of the park, the Scrambler looks no different than any other Eli Bridge scrambler with its dull, gray paint scheme. However, the attraction seemed very clean and didn’t show any wear in the seats like some of the older scramblers do.

Now regarding lines, there never are any. Why? Well, not only does it have a high capacity, but the ride never has a wait despite being one of the park’s best attractions due to the low popularity of the park. The worst I’ve had to wait was 5 minutes or so, the length of the ride’s cycle! However, this scrambler seems to have maintenance issues from what I’ve observed, as often times it is down for maintenance, and one such time the ride was running at half speed due to mechanical problems. Hopefully the park can get these worked out in the next few years.

Once seated on this scrambler, the ride begins and blows me away time and time again. Not only does it have the absolutely insane 5 minute cycle that I touched upon earlier in my review, but also this Scrambler seems to run slightly faster than the others I’ve been on, leading to a wilder, more satisfying ride complete with some great laterals and a really good effect of colliding with the other cars.

Overall, York’s Scrambler is easily one of the park’s best attractions thanks to its surprising intensity and absolutely mind-blowing length. Really my only complaint is the aforementioned maintenance trouble the park seems to have with their great Scrambler. Definitely this is one of the better scramblers I’ve been on anywhere, and it is a must ride during a visit to York’s Wild Kingdom. Heck, even if it were in a bigger, more distinguished park, if it were run identical to the way York’s runs it, it would still be a great attraction.

Yeah, they changed it. I went last year. That was disappointing.

That stinks. I likes the build up and then it slowed down.

This year the Scrambler was running fast as it had a few years ago and it had a very long cycle (over 5 minutes). It apparently had mechanical trouble when I rode it two years ago.

Yorks is probably about the same as last time you went. It still has the same rides.

Ya I know one reason Why I havent been back in So long. But I will likely hit it one of these days I hit the North shore trolley Museum. maybes this guy that is thinking of buying the property will back out so the park can invest into expansion.

I cant believe Yorks got rid of quite a few of their good rides within the past 10 years (the Flitzer and the Spider).
mrceagle on 9/3/2007 5:23:03 PM said:
The spider was Falling apart form what Ive heard and the flitzar was in equally poor shape. the park was getting allot of local pressure to remove it also.

That stinks. Too bad I never rode those two rides. Was the Flitzer even any good?

From the photo on rcdb (http://www.rcdb.com/ig387.htm?picture=1) it didnt look like a rough ride. Probably wasnt properly maintained.

Like i said I never rode it so I can only pass on information. Yorks has a smalll team so a medium sized coaster may have been a bit much for them at the time.
