Review of Yule Log Flume @ Santas Village
1 Rating Posted by: Canobie Coaster on 7/27/2005 7:44:00 AM
This is one of my favorite log flumes. First, there its always a short line, no longer than 15 minutes. Also, the logs are clean and stand out with there glistening exterior. The ride has no gum on the ride, which is a major plus. Also, the ride travels through the woods, with Santas elves along the way. Some are cutting trees, but they dont move. Along the way to the big drop, you have a few small drops, that get you a bit wet. Then, you approach the lift hill for the big drop. Its huge! Funtown U.S.A. advertises theirs as the highest log flume in New England, but I believe the Yule Log Flume is taller. Next, you drop down the drop at an incredible pace. The drop isnt very steep, but is fantastic. You get a little wet, but I still love the Yule Log Flume. I recommend this when you want to cool off. Everyone will enjoy this ride, unless they hate drops or getting wet.

The last time I went was in 2003. I love Santas Village. The rides have almost no wait. Also, the rides are very fun.
mrceagle on 7/27/2005 3:26:00 PM said:
Then you must have ridden the SS Pepermint twist(Rochn Tug) nice ride. you should se the new barn and the rain deer. the park is looking better this eyar then I have even seen it. allot of landscaping emprovments.
Canobie Coaster on 7/27/2005 3:27:11 PM said:
I cant wait to go again. The SS Peppermint Twist was a nice ride.
mrceagle on 7/27/2005 3:39:55 PM said:
The PArk has some big plans ahead of them expect a new area in the next few eyars.
Canobie Coaster on 7/27/2005 3:40:52 PM said:
One thing they may build is a new family coaster maybee. Possibly a custom one.
mrceagle on 7/27/2005 4:21:43 PM said:
Thats always in the planign same for Story land but itsnot high on there list. Expect a new path to travil up the hill side to a brand new Santas Workshope then to the air port and back around to the park. thats all going to be done before anything else majer. So I wouldnt expect the chance of a second coaster till past 2010.
Canobie Coaster on 7/27/2005 4:27:13 PM said:
Yeah, Story Land needs a new coaster too. Maybe a family farm themed coaster would work nicely.
mrceagle on 7/27/2005 4:47:13 PM said:
Not high on there plans right now. they might have a new themed area next eyar though.
Canobie Coaster on 7/27/2005 6:24:37 PM said:
I thought they would just add onto the farm area.
mrceagle on 7/28/2005 3:21:16 PM said:
No that cleared land is set aside for a new area. they did move the Farm Fallies show over there last year. that filled much of the space available for the farm. I think they coudl fit in one or two rides to both the farm and the Oceans of fun area if they chose the right rides.
Canobie Coaster on 8/31/2005 5:56:01 PM said:
They do have a sign up, saying that some construction is happening, but no clue what it is.
mrceagle on 9/1/2005 12:53:37 PM said:
Well thats the idea. They wernt set on there plans on our ACE event there erlyer in the year and I havnt been back yet this year.
Canobie Coaster on 9/1/2005 5:46:49 PM said:
On themeparkpage.com, they show a sign about new construction happening at Story Land.
mrceagle on 9/2/2005 10:49:35 AM said:
The land was cleared last year and is still cleared now. There is a sign talkign abotu future magic to acure on this pot. I might go to the park columbus day weekend and if I do I will try to find out. they own the Whip and Flying skooters from Whalom park and are also thinking of ggettign a bummber car ride.
Canobie Coaster on 9/3/2005 6:13:44 AM said:
Story Land really needs a bumper cars ride, because they are the only big park that I have gone to, that doesnt have a bumper cars ride. Also, Story Land could add the flying skooters in the farm area, and theme them to roosters like Canobie Lake Park. The Whip would be an excellent family ride for Story Land. However, I think that Story Land is building a roller coaster in the next 5 years. Maybe a family wooden roller coaster from the Gravity Group, like the Sky Princess, would work for Story Land? We will just have to wait and see.
mrceagle on 9/6/2005 12:36:42 PM said:
I think you maen Canobie. Canobie has the Flying skooters that are themed to Roostes. anyways its true they are the only ones in the area without bumber cars. We asked abotu a coaster and they said the normaly its aleways a consideration. keep in mind though that they only have a 35ft hight limmit so they cant build buch of a coaster unless they can use a hill side again. the barm area is the only area with a usable hill right now. But when it comes to coasters everyone knows they need one and are considering it but no one seems to be actually geting one.
Canobie Coaster on 9/6/2005 2:52:09 PM said:
Story Land could possibly buy, a small terrain wooden coaster, and build in on the hill. It could also, have many tunnels. As long as they get a hybrid coaster, with a steel support structure, they could build a cheep, exciting roller coaster. It could be filled with air-time like the Cornball Express, and could have a finale like the Raven at Holiday World. We will have to wait and see.
mrceagle on 9/6/2005 4:04:42 PM said:
If they get a wood coaster I wouldnt be expecting anythign too intence. some flot time maybe but I dought you will see any air time.
Canobie Coaster on 9/6/2005 4:10:56 PM said:
I would expect a few pops, like the Sky Princess at Dutch Wonderland.
mrceagle on 9/6/2005 4:30:03 PM said:
It might but I wouldnt put too much hop of it. they had the drop on there flume reangled so it would be less intence. they dont want to scare kids. also they woudl want to inshure a 42in hight to match the other rides.
Canobie Coaster on 9/6/2005 6:55:45 PM said:
Story Lands max minimimum height requirement is 36in, so it would have to be one that children 36in and taller could ride. Maybe it could wind down the hill, and it could speed through a barn, and also have a helix.
mrceagle on 9/7/2005 11:09:04 AM said:
The coaster would have to stay at that side of the hill. a maintanince access road is there and they woudl need to make sure that stays open. Im sure they could figure out somthing but as far as a new coaster anytime soom I wouldnt put any money on it. maybe a smaller carnival style family coaster if they do make a traditionlal park area.
Canobie Coaster on 9/7/2005 6:59:21 PM said:
I hope they build a custom wooden coaster, but I think a steel family coaster is more likely. Possibly an L&T Systems Coaster would be built, in the next 5 years.
mrceagle on 9/8/2005 12:38:20 PM said:
thats posible. i dont think they will get one from Miler Coaster, Inc since Six Gun has one and Santas village has a Ziere. I wouldnt be suprised if they tried to stay within the US and Canada fora coaster the exchange rate is really driving up prices.
Canobie Coaster on 9/8/2005 2:46:11 PM said:
Then, they could get a Morgan Manufacturing, or a S&S Powers family roller coaster. They are both within the United States, and build smooth roller coasters. Morgan has had experience building family coasters, and S&S possibly could. Morgan has built family mine train coasters, so they could build a family mine train coaster.
mrceagle on 9/8/2005 4:18:20 PM said:
Morgan is a high posibility since Morgan built the new trains for the Poler coaster. S&S Im not to sure of as fare as there quality it woudl prity much be an arrow coaster and look like the Poler coaster.
Canobie Coaster on 9/8/2005 4:51:53 PM said:
Anyway, S&S Powers hasnt had the experience of building a true familiy coaster. Morgan would be a great choice, because they have worked with Story Land before, and there roller coasters are very smooth. Thats important, because I doubt young children want a rough ride.
mrceagle on 9/8/2005 6:06:07 PM said:
They dont! Teh mine train coaster at Bonfonte Gardens looks great. If story land could get one half that good they woudl have somthign worth talking about.
Canobie Coaster on 9/9/2005 5:43:33 AM said:
Yeah, but they probably wouldnt theme it to a mine. Maybe, a farm theme?
mrceagle on 9/9/2005 11:17:16 AM said:
I understand that I was just giving that coaster out as an example of there proven work.
Canobie Coaster on 9/9/2005 2:44:10 PM said:
Yeah, you were just saying one of their great examples of a family coaster.
mrceagle on 9/12/2005 10:01:31 AM said:
I noticed they locked the Boderdash thred. Coaster 05 will spend pages in the links arguing but but he looks bad at us for talking about Boulderdash and the Hounted gravyard in October.
coaster05 on 9/12/2005 4:20:08 PM said:
Its because you took my review and changed it into your personal conversation area. Also by links do you mean threads where that is allowed.
mrceagle on 9/12/2005 4:26:40 PM said:
Any one was welcome to talk about The Haunted grave yeard and the and the opertunitys to ride Boulderdash both at night and doring the fall. We wernt excluding anyone. just no one opted to put there two sence in.
Canobie Coaster on 9/12/2005 7:16:01 PM said:
Well, we should stick to the topic of a certain ride more often, then talking about another unrelated topic.
mrceagle on 9/13/2005 3:51:04 PM said:
Perhaps. but as long as were stickign to the park its envalved in were not that far from the topic.
Canobie Coaster on 9/13/2005 4:36:11 PM said:
It is okey if we get off topic in my reviews, because I dont mind.
mrceagle on 9/14/2005 9:50:53 AM said:
Its apower trip. really it shoudl be all or none. no wons posts are more important then anyone elses.
Canobie Coaster on 9/14/2005 2:33:26 PM said:
Good point, everyone has a right to say what they want, as long as its appropriate.
mrceagle on 9/14/2005 4:31:47 PM said:
ny ways. Santas has a few tricks up ther esleave comign up. they are expanding back into the hill and will build a santas workshop and airport.
Canobie Coaster on 9/14/2005 5:02:44 PM said:
Will they maybe include any new rides? Maybe they could have a dark ride, in which you go for a tour of Santas toy factory.
mrceagle on 9/15/2005 1:04:23 PM said:
There will be rides added throughout this expantion project. and I actually mentioned that idea to the owner
Canobie Coaster on 9/15/2005 2:45:25 PM said:
You know the owner? Did you meet her at an ACE event? Was a roller coaster brought up?
mrceagle on 9/15/2005 5:17:55 PM said:
You mean Her. actually i meat the Daughter of the owner the GM at the park. NE ACE had an event at the northern NH park on Memorial day weekend. We got the same thing about the coaster we woudl love to get one but its not planed for the near future.
Canobie Coaster on 9/15/2005 5:47:18 PM said:
Thats too bad. However, it is great to hear Santas Village is expanding.
mrceagle on 9/15/2005 5:52:15 PM said:
The raindeer barn is amazing and not cheap. they will neeed to rais allot of money to do the intire project. but they have a good solection of rides and with smaller additions they will do fine until it is finished.
Canobie Coaster on 9/16/2005 5:37:14 AM said:
Santas Village could really use some new rides, because when people go to New Hampshire, it is overlooked. If they add some new ones, to compliment their anchor attractions, the Yule Log Flume, and Rudys Rapid Transit Coaster.
Canobie Coaster on 9/16/2005 5:38:01 AM said:
Have you been to Santas Village lately? If you have, how long were the lines for the Yule Log Flume, last time you went.
mrceagle on 9/16/2005 11:24:54 AM said:
It was a walk on even ona buisy day. Anyways You much not have been to the park in a while since they have added many new atraction. they have the only 3D movie in NE and host a resanably good dark ride. they also added a Zamperla RocknTug in 2003. if you can hit them in mid summer they also have at least one really good show. feel free to look at my trip report from Memorial day weekend.
Canobie Coaster on 9/16/2005 6:35:20 PM said:
I went last time in 2003. It is good to hear, that the Yule Log Flume is a walk-on now, as lines used to be around 10-15 minutes.
mrceagle on 9/19/2005 4:59:46 PM said:
Im sure at times they get that bad. its beena long time since I went in the mid summer. I always go in December and normaly once doring the year.
Canobie Coaster on 9/20/2005 4:17:19 PM said:
The Yule Log Flume is open in the winter? I only go during the summer, so lines tend to be around 10 minutes, but rarely very long.
mrceagle on 9/21/2005 4:25:10 PM said:
No the flume is clased along with the Red Hot Racers and fire Brigade. the coaster is sometimes open it depends on weather. every time I have gone it has snowed and the coaster was closed. So insted I rode SS Peperment Twist(Zamperla Rockn Tug(added 2003) 65 times in one day.
Canobie Coaster on 9/22/2005 6:26:22 AM said:
You counted how many times you rode SS Peppermint Twist? What other rides close during the winter, other than the water rides?
mrceagle on 9/22/2005 3:59:29 PM said:
Teh fire Bregade(Zamperla) it uses water and needs to shut down. and the Coaste will shut down only if it is snowing that day. every other ride is open. They also decorate the park with Thousands of lights and have heaters scatered to keep worm.
Canobie Coaster on 9/24/2005 10:17:57 AM said:
I wasnt sure if Santas Skyway Sleigh would be open. That doesnt look like a ride that would probably be open in the snow.
mrceagle on 9/27/2005 1:16:12 PM said:
They put down a sand paper like material on the top of the rain . that helps the weels grip on rain or snow.
Canobie Coaster on 9/27/2005 6:06:01 PM said:
That would help, prevent the ride from getting too dangerous, and slippery.
mrceagle on 9/28/2005 4:48:37 PM said:
The ride is very slow. The track or its runing ability hasnt really been a problem for them. the electrical system is overly complicated and that tends to cause a problem.
Canobie Coaster on 9/28/2005 7:40:57 PM said:
Is that why lines are usually around 10 minutes or more(usually 20 minutes), or is that because of its demand and capacity?
mrceagle on 9/29/2005 11:55:10 AM said:
They have allot of Sleighs for it but they often dont have them all on. they added an onride photo and that has added some fun to the ride. I really havnt seen that long of a line for this thing.
Canobie Coaster on 9/29/2005 4:49:18 PM said:
If you go during the summer, it has long lines in the middle of the day around noon. After the kids leave the park, it is 5 minutes or less.
mrceagle on 9/29/2005 6:48:18 PM said:
I normaly end up hiting this early so Ive never had to really wait.
Canobie Coaster on 9/29/2005 7:51:32 PM said:
I can only go during the summer, so crowds are larger.
mrceagle on 9/30/2005 10:54:28 AM said:
Too bad. th epark takes on ahole new feeling durign the winter its somethign else. though I do like the increased landscaping they added this last year. it realy has become a park worth walking.
Canobie Coaster on 10/3/2005 6:00:03 AM said:
Is it still the same price during the winter?
mrceagle on 10/3/2005 4:22:42 PM said:
Ya but 19 bucks isnt that bad for a day at the park and they have allot of lights that are put out and they seem to add a little each year.
Canobie Coaster on 10/3/2005 4:50:05 PM said:
That sounds like a nice activity for me to do around Christmas time.
mrceagle on 10/3/2005 5:25:14 PM said:
Its a blast. Just dress worm and buy a few hot choclets.
Canobie Coaster on 10/4/2005 6:07:44 AM said:
I hate chocolate! I will have some nice cold milk (I only drink milk and water). I will dress warm though.
mrceagle on 10/4/2005 2:24:47 PM said:
Theres also tea and Coffee(green Moutain).
Canobie Coaster on 10/5/2005 7:42:19 PM said:
Have you been on the Ferris wheel when you go in the winter? If you have, hows the view?
mrceagle on 10/6/2005 12:45:59 PM said:
Yes I have and it isnt that deforent then it is doring the summer. Teh wheeel is jsut too short ot offer any sort of a veiw. I woudl be nice to see them get a better themed and slightly larger wheel.
Canobie Coaster on 10/6/2005 5:34:16 PM said:
I thought you would get a great view of the White Mountains.
mrceagle on 10/7/2005 11:27:17 AM said:
This area is vallied a bit. though you can see some moutain(washinton) and a bit of the presidentials. nto much can be seen.
Canobie Coaster on 10/7/2005 2:38:31 PM said:
How crowded is the park in the winter?
mrceagle on 10/7/2005 3:41:50 PM said:
prity crowded given the fact that its winter. the lines are normaly about 10-15 minutes for the p[opulare atractins. I dont think I wolk onto more then a couple rides.
