Review of The Big Flush @ Quassy Amusement Park

Have you ever wanted to get flushed down a toilet? Well, if you said no to that, I’m pretty sure you are in the majority. However, I think the proportion of people wanting to ride Quassy’s Big Flush is far greater. Along with the now defunct Monster Mouse, the Big Flush was one of Quassy’s headlining attractions. Now with the addition of the Wooden Warrior, the Big Flush has stepped out of the limelight a bit; however, it is still a pretty fun water slide. Located adjacent to the aforementioned Wooden Warrior, the Big Flush is a rare example of a single wet/dry water slide since most parks install multiple slides at once. But don’t worry. Thanks to Quassy’s rather low crowds, the Big Flush is almost always a walk-on. Actually, I think it would be more aptly described as a climb up since the length of your wait generally depends upon how quickly one can get up the long flight of stairs. The Big Flush begins in an enclosed, green tube. However, the raft quickly enters darkness. From there, the Big Flush slowly meanders back and forth until the finale, which is by far the highlight of the slide for me. It begins with a sudden plunge. Thanks to the strong breeze this plunge provides, a strong sense of speed is created that enhances the thrill. Following that is a tight 360 degree, downward helix that eventually deposits riders out in the daylight, ending the slide. Fortunately, the Big Flush doesn’t get riders very wet. The only time I have ever seen riders come off really wet is when two adults come down in the same raft. While short, the Big Flush is definitely sweet. Overall, the Big Flush is a pretty good wet/dry water slide. While not the strongest version of this type of slide that I have been on, the unique finale makes the slide memorable for me. Another nice thing about this slide is that you don’t have to grab your bathing suit. Usually I look forward to getting quite wet on these slides, but since Quassy is often a pit stop for me rather than a full day destination, I appreciate the fact that I can ride this and not be drenched for the impending car ride afterwards. A visit to Quassy should definitely include at least one ride on the Big Flush since it is definitely one the park’s best attractions.
