Review of Steel Force @ Dorney Park
0 Rating Posted by: fergusonat on 7/14/2005 1:43:00 PM
I was very disappointed with this ride, unfortunately. From what Ive read, its an amazing hyper with great air and a fun and intense helix. Well, I personally felt little or no airtime throughout the ride. At the bottom of each hill, there was a jarring sensation that really hurt my back, and the helix was taken a slow rate and wasnt all that intense. I was shocked at the rave reviews it had received. It wasnt even able to make it into my Top 10, which REALLY doesnt say much for the ride

UPDATE 2006

I will upgrade my rating to an 8 after a decent ride on this thing a week ago. This time around there seemed to be more airtime than I remembered, but still nowhere near what should be expected on a hyper coaster. The MCBR just punches in so hard...very disappointing still

I know, I really wanted to like Steel Force...but it just wasnt my kind of ride. It just seemed so rough to me...I guess I caught it on a bad day

You want rough you head to Cedar Point and ride Magnum. Is it intense? Yes, but not really rough in my mind. I almost want to say you have too high of expectations, what with six B&Ms in your top 10. I also though the helix started slo, but really built for a killer, ultra-intense finale, but whatever, its your call. Its also not the same kind of airtime that is featured on Apollos, so I guess we know which kind you prefer. Not a bad review, just one that I, along with others, disagree with and I wanted to share my opinion.

Hey, I respect your opinion man. I just went into this ride expecting a much smoother ride from a Morgan hyper. Phantoms Revenge had such smoother transitions between drops and the ejector air was perfect. So yeah, I guess I had pretty high expectations because Steel Force was built by the same company. Its only natural I think. The Phantom blows it away...at least in my opinion
