Review of Avalanche @ Timber Falls Adventure Park
1 Rating Posted by: Red Rascal on 7/5/2005 8:14:00 AM
Times ridden: 2 ~ Ride experience: 7 ~ Layout: 9 ~ Thrill factor: medium->high ~ Airtime: high ~ Landscaping: 5 ~ Reride factor: medium ~ Evaluation: Like most people said, Avalanche is an insane wooden coaster that basically circles around the tiny Timber Falls twice. Dont let the rides size fool you into thinking this is some kind of family coaster, I can assure you it isnt. Although Avalanche is a huge airtime producing machine, its way too fast for its small layout. It didnt give me any time to enjoy it, hence the lower than average score. Id like a bit more than the hill, turn, hill, turn pattern that is featured on this ride. On the plus side, Avalanche maneuvers its twisted turns and hills very smoothly, and the minimal to nonexistent waits make reriding a piece of cake. For speed freaks, Avalanche is a must, but for those looking for the whole experience, Id recommend heading down the street to Mt. Olympus and taking a spin on Hades.

Why did you ride it only twice? I guess you paid by the ride instead of the wristband. Riding multiple times negates the theory that it is too fast to enjoy. I usually enjoy your ratings and the systems you use, but sometimes I just have to discount landscaping. I also find the reride factor to be much higher than you and the thrill factor to be at the top of the scale. Glad you had the opportunity to ride it.

I purchased a wristband, but since our time in the Dells was limited, and not knowing how crowded Mt. Olympus was, I decided to stop at two rides. I still kept the wristband, just in case we had time for more rides after Mt. Olympus. In the end we didnt, but I wasnt bummed about loosing that $5, because with no enterance fee, we saved money at Mt. Olympus. I dont really factor in landscaping, like flowers and trees, but rather the overall appearance, like how the ride looks in general. Ill start using appearance rather than landscaping in my next reviews. The reride factor, which was medium for this, was like if I was near the ride and had time to spare, Id ride it, but otherwise, I wouldnt go out of my way to do it. Its a nice little ride though that should get a lot of attention from enthusiasts.
