Review of Apollos Chariot @ Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Ive been putting off reviewing this one but I guess its time. Apollos Chariot is a great ride. Quite frankly Im amazed at how high it scores. According to the reviews its the best hyper coaster on the planet. But I have to say, I dont agree. Dont get me wrong, I love this ride, its in my home park, which is the best dang park in the US! But Apollos Chariot is lacking the "it" factor. A superior hyper coaster, and an older model, is "Steel Force". If you dont know where it is go see it. Allentown PA, Dorney Park. If you have ridden AC and not Steel Force, go ride it youll know what Im talking about. Anyway back to AC. The first drop is intense. The ride experience is exceptionaly smooth. Id say the smoothest hypercoaster in the USA. The thing I am not crazy about is the other 8 drops. most of them are .....well average. It would have been better served to cut down on the number of drops and add to the height of the remaining. Well, thats all Ill say for now. Bottomline, great hypercoaster, just not the best.

Im sorry, but the drops are far from average! The drop out of the brake run is pure perfection in the back seat...I prefer several smaller insane-airtime hills than a couple big long drops...

The review is certainly well thought out and well written but I have to disagree I have been on both Steel Force and AC and AC is almost worth the 5 hr trip just to ride that one.

Oh yeah, I remember this review, and when I first read it I remembered that I had to come back to it when I rode Steel Force. Let me tell you this...Steel Force is one of the weakest rides Ive ever ridden. The trim brakes destroyed the bunny-hills at the end of the ride and the helix was nowhere as intense as I had hoped. The trains themselves were altogether inferior to the ingenius B&M trains, which I expected, and the overall ride lacked one big thing that a hypercoaster is entirely dependent upon: airtime. The ride didnt even make it into my Top 10, which is really pitiful when considering the parks that Ive been to. In conclusion, Apollos Chariot still rules.

This reviewer hits it right on the nose. Apollo is good at the start, but then, nothing. The other hills are average at best. The second hill is less than 150 feet, and most hypers haev at least a 150-170 foot second drop. Not a bad ride, but I think its overrated

Height isnt everything...the airtime more than makes up for the smaller drops
