Fun stuff, definately worth a trip around. I couldnt stop laughing at it. Old school, but really cheesey.

I love dark rides, because they are classic rides, and add a thrill element. It is disappointing, that major parks remove those rides, and try to replace them with junk, like boring rides, that every park has.

I agree Larry why cant we have someone with that knowledge post more often. I also really look forward to dark rides and I miss them at the larger chains.

The only ones large chain parks add usually, arent as good as the smaller parks. Smaller parks rely on return customers, while Six Flags, doesnt care, as long as you paid to enter the park. Because of that, smaller parks make quality dark rides, like how Knoebels has their Haunted Mansion.

Isnt it also the fact that the capacity on most dark rides rather on the low side one of the reasons why large chains stay away from them?

That dude was right on target with all of that stuff. I am impressed. I actually kind of miss Journey to the Center of the Earth. That was an interesting little ride. Its alright though I guess. Im not really sure why chain parks dont put in dark rides. There has to be a reason. Maybe they dont think that they would be as big of a draw as some of their thrill rides? Maybe they are afraid that they might screw it up? I dont know. I think that dark rides should be a small park/boardwalk thing anyway. They just know how to do them better and dark rides have that small park feel to them anyway.

Anyway, as SFLAKE said, they are low capacity, and they cost some money, to add all of the effects. Larger parks, with tons of space, would rather spend money on mega roller coasters, than nice, family dark rides. Mega parks want giant roller coasters for teens or adults, because those are the rides, that they usually want to spend money on, unlike dark rides usually.
