California screamin is a fantastic coaster. Yes, the ride lacks overall theming, but it makes up for the lack of theming by providing an extremely pleasent ride experience. When california adventure opens in the morning, everyone hits the first 2 rides they see - Soarin and TOT. If you head towards the back of the park first, you can get 10 rides on screamin without waiting. When I got to california adventure, I headed towards the back of the park. I walked onto screamin, and waited about 5 minutes for the front seat. I got into the very comfortable restraints and waited. The ride op hit the green button, and we slowly rolled out of the station. We hit a small dip and turned to the left. Our train hit the brakes, and prepared for the launch. Music began playing in our car. After about a minute we launched. The launch felt relatively slow, however, it was still fun. We went up a large hill that gave me a surprising pop of airtime, and began turning. Our train flew through a large helix, and went up the lift hill. We slowly creeked to the top, and flew down the 100 foot drop. Our car hit another massive helix, and went into the mickey mouse loop. This was the highlight of the ride. We smoothly sailed over another airtime hill, and hit another helix. We hit 6 bunny hops, and went into the rides grand finale - A large downward twisting helix that lasted quite a while. We hit another small dip and returned into the station. I got off, and rode screamin 4 more times without waiting. The crowds slowly trickled into the back of the park. Later on that day, the wait was 120 minutes! Many people might ask why I like california screamin so much. And I tell them that I feel very mixed about the ride. There was nothing that really blew me away. I guess the reason that I like screamin so much, is that its flat out fun! Sure, it doesnt have a powerful launch, or any very good inversions. Its just a joy to ride!
