Review of Goliath @ Six Flags Magic Mountain
2 Rating Posted by: Scott on 11/8/2004 10:47:00 PM
Goliath was my first hyper coaster and I think its one the best ones Ive ever been on. We waited about an hour to get on, so we got to look around the queue some. The queue is very nice and gets you excited about the ride. After your done enjoying the queue you go up to possibly the most Hideous station ever. The station looks out of place, like it belongs in the 70s, not 2004. Besides the hideous station, goliath is a great ride. The 255 ft drop is pretty intimidating. We got onto goliath and slowly headed up the first hill. Our train flew over the first hill and we were flung into a fog filled tunnel. You go up, turn around, go down, go up, and then hit the midcourse brake. The second half of the ride is fun. Its not blackout inducing like I was led to believe but fun. I enjoy the second half more because Ive always loved smaller drops and twists. Goliath is a great ride and is not given the credit it deserves. Ride Goliath!!

Your last comment is ironic, since I think you forgot to change the numerical rating from the initial 5. If you want to chage it, go back to the Goliath home page and go back to the bottom where you can not only add or edit comments, you can change the numerical rating which will update. Good luck.

I think this ride has potential but the mid course brake run (or more precisely mid course stop) killed the fun for me

I wish it was faster after the brake run. Goliath would be preety wild wouldnt it?

The word is queue not cue. Unless of course youre referring to a pool cue.

Goliath uses the mid-course brake run as a set of block brakes. If they took those out, the ride would only be able to run 2 trains at a time. However, they could add track before the lift hill, and put extra block brakes there. Then, they could take out the mid-course brake run. My only concern would be, about how many positive Gs you would have subjected against you without the midcourse brake run.
