Review of Revenge of the Mummy @ Universal Studios Florida

EDIT: I just read something recently that justified the whole "mummy leaping onto your vehicle idea". Originally, the ride was planned to have a robo arm with Imhotep on it. The arm would swing downwards, right infront of your vehicle. I guess that the mummy would be in a pose (looking like he was holding onto the car), and he would swing down and seemingly "leap into your vehicle". However, due to budget cuts, practicality, or some other reason they didnt add it in.

This ride mostly depends on the hype that you have heard. For example, if you go into it just knowing that its a new ride, youll be pleasantly surprised. If you go in thinking that fire will be inches from your face and that mummies will leap on your vehicle as well as convincing scarab beetles, you will come off the ride slightly dissappointed...
But, for the non-hypers, I will explain what is really in the ride.
First, the story:
You are on a movie set filming the new Mummy movie, when cast members report mysterious things on the set. They say that its cursed, and most of them wear the med-jai (sacred warriors who fought Imhotep) symbol. Reggie is a key element. Somehow, the curse is real and you are transported into Egypt where appearently you are filming a mime scene... Thats where the ride comes in.

I used express (Fastpass, for you Disney fans) for it, so I didnt get to wait in the detailed line. One thing you immediately notice near the loading platform is the story...the story carrys on even in the employees. Some are supposedly possessed by the evil mummy, and chant "Imhotep" and others look genuinely frightened. It adds its own special touch before you board.
Once on your four rows each with four seats vehicle, your car maneuvers through a dark tomb. Nothing special...yet. Then you come to one of the major hype points; the supposedly awesomely moving animatronic. Reggie is found mummified near a sarcauphogus, warning us. A life-sized Imhotep comes out (if he wasnt working, they project a face onto the sarcauphogus), saying his evil threats. I didnt see any special movements there, just standard animatronics. Anyway, your vehicle turns into the treasure room, which can also be overhyped. Sure the golden treasure looks cool, but the following chaos doesnt live up to its reputation. Imhotep threatens you and several detailed mummy warriors pop out of the ground. It seems cool...but they just stand there in their pose. None of them leap onto your car or cower over you, but the fire effects when they appear are pretty cool.
Your vehicle enters the scarab room. I had heard that these looked so real that people would scream at the site of them...I didnt, I just marveled at how they did it. Basically, they have projects of scarabs on the walls, utilising plastic ones coming out of skeletons as well. After that, you drop backwards into a turntable where a puke-colored projected Imhotep threatens you again.
Ahead of you now is a steep slope with Imhoteps head at the top. You launch up it to the coaster portion. For an indoor ride in limited space, this part is awesome. The bad effect though were the light-up mummys. These were supposed to be spirits chasing you through the portion. However, some lighting reveals that they are actually sitting on what I thought were canvases, near the track. Maybe out of the seven times I went on it something went wrong with the lighting, but it sorta ruined it when you could see the almost-cardboard mummies.
Then you enter one of the best parts, the fake unload station. Behind a glass window you see the silhouette of a girl explaining how to exit the vehicle. Once again, things go wrong. Strobelights disguise the moving of the glass pane, and when everything is back to normal you see a broken window with another Imhotep animatronic behind it pointing to the ceiling. Above you fire spreads throughout it. Still marveling at the fire, you drop through red fog, going o
