The greatest coaster on the planet. I just got back from SFNE, and HAD to review it, so here it goes....

Superman: Ride of Steel
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Upon entering the blue room, we make a left into another section of the blue room, in which a ride attendant greets us. She told us we needed to keep my moms fanny pack in a locker, but she said it very nicely, then told us to enjoy our ride as we exited the blue room. After exiting that room, we meet DOZENS of switchbacks. Thankfully, they wont be used the whole trip. After goin through some of the switchbacks, we meet the end of the line, which is right by the stairs. After about 2 cycles, I looked at the lift and saw the blue train stuck. Ugh. After 10 minutes, it startedrunning again. After 5 minutes, we were in the station. I decided I wanted a great first impression of the ride, so I opted for the front row. I saw I had to wait about 5 trains, but I didnt care After 3 trains, the red train stopped on the lift for 10 minutes, because an idiot unbuckled the seatbelts or something. After another train or 2, I was on bored. I entered the red train, left side. I slid up in the seat slightly, buckled orange seatbelt, pulled lap bar down, and buckled go-no-go seatbelt. Thankfully I was not affected by these restraint changed. After getting stapled, and balls crushed, we started up the lift. We started moving slowly, then we heard a bang, and we started going very fast up the lift. I slid back, so I would have a little room. While going up the lift, to nyour left is a great view of the river, and no siding. To our right is a great view of the park, with siding. After 25 minutes of going up the lift, we reach the apex. We slowly hang over the top, and start going faster...and faster...and faster. Steeper and steeper we slope, and finally each 70 degrees (no way in hell is it steeper than 70) We storm through an undeground tunnel at blinding speeds, and rise up into the 1st camelback. At the top we get decent floater. After descending that camelback, we bank into the overanked turn. This overbaned turn is good and forceful, but not as good as most of MFs. After the overbank, we bank left, and dip about 10 feet. We the ride up into the 2nd camelback, whih gives great flojecter. At the bottom of this drop, we get our picture taken, and head into the 3rd camelback. This is when the real fun starts. Up, up, and BAM, we nail the restraints with great ejector airtime. And this isnt just a pop, this is SUSTAINED for a good 3 or 4 seconds. Amazing. We head back down, and bank into the first non-inverted corkscrew. It offers no airtime, but decent laterals. We then bank right, and head down into the 1st helix....well 3/4 of a helix. This helix offers great g-forces, and is very fast. We then head up, still banking, and head into the most forceful airtime on the ride. We head up a small hill, asses out of seats, and bank to our left, into the second helix. This helix isnt very forceful, but is fast and fun. After traveling in a large cricle, we slope up and get another forceful dose of airtime. This time, right over pathays, we bank right and go through an underground mist tunnel. It is a very fun element, and is great for hot days. We then head up, meet a useless trip, ad enter 2 amazingly forceful bunny hops, bank right, and head into the forecul brakes. After waiting 1min for the blue trainto leave, we enter back into the station. Lap bars go up, an we exit to our left, go under lift, see photos, go by store, and go to ride again...

Rating: 9.5/10

Good points: Amazing airtime, great gs, tunnel are great, drop is good, nice speed and height, and just fun ride.

Things that need improvement: Reapinting, squeaking in some parts, 2nd half has a little too much ejector.

Notes: Ok, its better than MF, but not by much. It is just so amazing. The 2nd half has a littl too much ejector though. During

I have a dilemma. I was thinking about making SROS my #1 coaster over MF after a long time thinking about it. However, Im not sure how I would like it with the new seatbelts. For anyone whos ridden it recently......

Are the new ones a detriment to the ride?

Although they might slightly decrease "airtime," in my judgement, the new belts do NOT interfere with enjoying this ride.

I enjoyed the ride less because of the restraints, but still a top ride

The new seatbelts dont do anything to decrease enjoyment of the ride. They hurt if in wrong postition, but just buckle them perpendicular to your lap. The new restraints as a whole do not take away from the ride at all.

larrygator- are these new seatbelts anything like the ones at Darien Lake, because I thought that they were overly restricting for a hyper.

Yes, all three S:ROS have the same new restrictive seatbelts. The ride is still great but was more fun without the new restraint system.

Understandable, though, as the SROS at SFNE had a fatality.

The SRoS at DL didnt have an accident... recently

But many would backlash back at SF for letting a S:RoS operate without the modified restraints. Besides, something needed to be done to Intamin T-Bar restraint systems, and they solved it by doing this.
