Before last summer I hadnt been to Coney Island since I was a child in the 80s. I remember riding the El Dorado in the passenger seat with my father driving. It was completely awesome! Dark. Thumping beat. Sparks flying overhead. Lights and stobes. I wandered the streets of Coney last year looking for it to no avail (I wasnt aware of its name at the time). Needless to say, now that I know it still exists Ill be back wandering the streets in September. If anyone is a Clash fan, or has seen "The Clash on Broadway" (now available on the Essential Clash DVD released last year), there is a great part with footage of early 80s Coney. Mick Jones riding the El Dorado with "Overpowered by Funk" playing over the top.
